Last Saturday, Mr. Wee took his family to a new restaurant for dinner. They left their house
at around 7 o’clock in the evening. It took them about 20 minutes to get to the restaurant. They
enjoyed their dinner. By the time they had finished having their dinner, it was already 9.30 p.m.
Then, they headed home.
As Mr. Wee was parking his car, Mrs. Wee saw that the front window was opened. She felt
strange because she was sure that she had closed all the windows and locked the doors before
leaving their house. Mr. Wee then went into the house to check if everything was alright. Mrs.
Wee stayed in the car with the children.
Mr. Wee was shocked to see that the house was in a mess. Things were thrown everywhere.

Read the passage below and answer the questions that follow.

Ants live in large groups called colonies. Each colony consists of three types of ants. They are the
queen, the workers, and the males.
The queen and the males have wings, while the workers do not. Usually, a colony consists of only
one queen ant. The queen is the only ant that can lay eggs. The queen is also the largest ant in the
colony. The workers have different duties to perform in the colony. Some take care of eggs. Some
take care of newly hatched ants called larvae. Some gather food and keep their home clean.
Ants use their antennae to find food and to find their way back home. Ants are omnivorous.
They eat both meat and plants.
Some worker ants are given the duty of soldier to protect the queen, defend the colony, and
even attack enemy colonies for food and nesting space. These soldier ants are normally bigger than
the rest of the workers. They also have bigger and stronger mandibles.
