BIOGRAPHICAL PROFILE 

SHEILA CROSS REID

Avanti Real Estate Services, LLC (Sheila and Nik Reid) and OWA (Alfred Aijiwe) were JV
Development Partners (Langdon Holdings, LLC ) in the development of the ​Langdon Lofts 100%
Affordable Housing Project​ consisting of 34 affordable housing units located 2613 Bladensburg Rd.,
N.E., Washington, D.C. The project was successfully completed in August 2017.

As​ ​Real Estate​ ​Broker and CEO of Avanti Real Estate Services, Inc. located in Columbia Heights, Sheila
Cross Reid along with her husband, Robert (Nik) Reid, has over 28 years of experience in residential and
commercial Real Estate Brokerage, Urban Development, and Property Management. Avanti is firmly
committed to developing affordable housing purchase, as well as rental and ownership opportunities to
those who desire the same.

Mrs. Reid holds a BS degree in Business Education and Educational Psychology from the D. C. Teachers
College and an MBA in Real Estate and Urban Development from the American University Kogod
School of Business. She is past Chairperson for the District of Columbia Board of Zoning Adjustment
appointment by Mayor Marion Barry. She has also served on the Advisory Board of the National
Minority Business Coalition as well as on the Board of the National Association of Minority Contractors,
She currently serves as President of the Columbia Heights Businesses Association, is a member of the
National Association of Real Estate Brokers, the National Association of Realtors, and a Soror of
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,

Ms. Reid’s introduction to Real Estate Development came as a result of accepting an entry level position
Assistant Project Developer ​for the National Corporation for Housing Partnerships whose services
included participation in the development of hundreds of affordable multi-family housing units
throughout the United States

Mrs. Reid is a Native Washingtonian, and hails from family of Civil Rights activist. Her life trajectory of
activism began upon graduation from college when she moved to Berkley, CA. and volunteered in the
Free Breakfast for School Children Program​ with Huey P. Newton of the Black Panther Party in Oakland,
CA while also employed at ​McClymonds High School​ in West Oakland, CA as an Educational
Consultant for the ​West Oakland DropOut Prevention Program

From California, Sheila traveled to West Africa and served as Headmistress for ​The Feden International
School​, in Accra, Ghana.
