IoT Railway Transportation Main Trends
IoT Applied in railway consists in cost-effective device, platforms, IoT network for smart railway operator
and infrastructure manager that make it easy to grasp the information distributed over a wide railway
equipment and area aiming at realizing predictive maintenance, flow passengers analysis and info-
mobility, M2M communications.

IoT Application projects in Trenitalia- DMMS (1/2)

DMMS is the innovative Trenitalia project that uses IoT Technology, Predictive Analysis
software and Big Data.
As a cutting edge system DMMS is based on the presence of a large number of sensors, necessary to
record a series on board operational parameters (temperatures, pressures) that are processed by the
big data processing platform. In this way useful indications for maintenance decisions and actions are
quickly provided.
The project will support the evolution from an inefficient and expensive static maintenance program
scheme, to new maintenance management processes based on the dynamic and real-time analysis of
the usage status of railway equipment
