 A. What is the importance of knowing the following in the production of a crop? Give a
specific crop example.

(1) Life Cycle


Rice crops is one of the main crops which is commonly consume by Filipino
citizen. It is basically a stable food where it needs to improve the production and quality at the
same time. The importance in knowing and understanding the life cycle of the rice crop is, it
avoids shifting problems from one life cycle stage to another. It also helps the farmers to know
when to the plant and when to harvest a crop with different harvesting period.

(2) Mode of Reproduction


The mode of reproduction of rice crops is sexual reproduction. Sexual
reproduction is important in increasing diversity of offspring. It provides variation of rice crops
to plant in suitable environment. And it give us different variety of good quality of rice crops to
choose in the market.

(3) Growth Habit


It is about the adaptive mechanism of a certain crops for survival and
reproduction, especially in changing climate. Rice is considered as an herb that they grow in
standing water or in very wet soil. This is important to production to know because if it is
planted to normal soil or they freeze in certain condition. The expected production rate will not
be produced. Since it is planted in wet soil, the farmers learned that it should be planted below
with 4-8 inches in soil. This may help fine roots to absorb water and nutrients from surrounding
soil.
