Statement of Purpose
It is my pleasure to introduce myself as Sahaj Patel, as an Under Graduate student in
Mechanical Engineering from the Gujarat Technological University of Ahmedabad, Gujarat,
India. Also, I would like to introduce myself as an individual having a strong determination to
achieve life goals in the field of Mechanical Engineering. Some of my special qualities include
flexibility, reflectivity, and be able to face complex situations. Moreover, the four years of
undergraduate education have made me realize the profound knowledge of the subjects of
Mechanical Engineering and has made me aware of the gamut of opportunities it offers in terms
of research and development at a higher level of education. I want to extend my knowledge of
the field by joining the master’s program in Mechanical Engineering.
After my high school itself, I started studying diploma in mechanical engineering where I
learned the basics and fundamentals of the field along with the subjects like workshop practice,
mechanical drafting and thermal engineering-Ⅰ & Ⅱ. Whereas in the Undergraduate program, I
had learned these subjects in more detail along with metrology science, power plant
engineering, refrigeration and air conditioning were the subjects along with Design of machine
elements increase my interest towards master’s degree to gain depth knowledge. Conjointly, I
had joined the industrial visits to Elecon Engineering Company Ltd- Asia's largest gear
manufacturing company, KEC International- one of the largest power transmission (EPC)
companies in the world. Additionally, I had completed my final semester project “CFD
Analysis of aircraft wings” in STAR CCM+ software (CD-adapco Company in Melville, NY,
USA). In these project, I also got important knowledge about the wings of the windmill.
The state of complacency I experienced when the curriculum, the subjects and along with the
spring intake opportunity which are the most suitable options for me after completing my
graduation in May 2018 offered by your respected institution. I also want to further continue
my project in 3-D printing aircraft wings and its testing in wind tunnel along with simulation
in CFD analysis to make it a perfect innovation. Additionally, I have acquired peripheral
knowledge of CNC Programming, solid-works, Auto CAD and CFD analysis.
My goal in life is to offer myself in the Defence organisation where it will be a great opportunity
for me to represent innovative UAV’s and 3-D printed feasible wings along with most accurate
flow simulation using CFD analysis by continuing improvisation in my current project. But my
short-term future plan is to join M.S. course in USA. Pursuing Masters in branch of Mechanical
Engineering in USA is something that ignites my clandestine emotions. It would also imply
immense international exposure in terms of learning and employing the latest Engineering
techniques, meeting fertile minds and exchanging ideas on an international basis. Mostly I
would like to go to USA to get an environment that has adequate infrastructure, competent
guidance and others who more or less, share my ideas and love for the subjects.
While deciding the graduate school, I have gathered information of many universities and I
found that “Wright State University” is the best Institute where I can slake the thirst for
knowledge in Mechanical Engineering. I believe that what your university looks for in a
prospective student is a strong potential, motivation and the will to perform and deliver. I assure
you that I will make the most of my self and continue my hard work and live up to your
expectations. I feel assured that with dedicated input from the curriculum developed at “Wright
State University”, advanced research facilities in labs, in your prestigious institution will hone
my innate skills, increase the depth of my knowledge. “Wright State University” is important
to me because it gives me an opportunity to work with world-class faculty and fulfil my dreams.
