The proposal is to establish an Underwater World Aquarium consisting of marine animals, plants
and reptiles anywhere in the world whereas you could provide us adequate water under the
ground or portable. The Aquarium apart from its commercial supremacy will have alliances with
the Universities and Marine Biology Research Centers to undertake marine biological research
projects in collaboration with similar reputed centers around the world. The research findings
could produce revenue and the various institutions would pay for using the facilities in the Sea
World, 1/3 of the world all over.

AQUARIA GROUP DESIGNED FOR SANDOSA, SINNGAPORE 1992

The meticulously created Seaworld will have thousands of marine species, collected from all over
the world, swimming amidst corals, reef and underwater caves for all to see. The creation will
include an artificial ocean enabling people to walk under the water through an acrylic tunnel,
directly experiencing the unique wonders available at the bottom of the ocean, with out getting
wet.

The Underwater World Aquarium concept is a revolutionary Tourism and Educational attraction,
which draws on our natural human curiosity for other forms of animal life, rarely seen by the
general public.

Historically, the viewing of marine life has almost been exclusively confined to aquariums, in which
viewers circulate around the edges of the tank looking through windows. The AQUARIA concept
proposed renders this style of viewing marine life as very basic. The difference lies in the
submerged winding acrylic tunnel, which takes the public on a fascinating tour with views in all
directions. The tunnel creates an impression of walking on the seabed and the visitor becomes
part of the marine environment.

3
4

The Under Water Aquarium is a complex adventure providing visitors, of all ages with
entertainment, enjoyment and education. Each facility has a number of entertainment and
educational attractions, which transform short visits in to memorable occasions.

As the this facility will become a “MUST SEE” for ALL visitors and locals to the place of
establishment. This attraction mentally and visually removes the viewing public from their
everyday environment and transports them to the bottom of the ocean. The transformation is
started at the moment of entry into the main exhibition lobby. Strategic and suitable displays,
exhibits, touch pools, aquariums, dangerous creatures and marine artifacts entice the visitor
through the pre-determined route on the journey to the main Oceanarium tank of thousands of
marine animals and plants with its submerged acrylic tunnel.

The proposed SEAWORLD Complex shall incorporate a large aquarium of many millions of litres of
processed water surrounding the walk - through acrylic tunnel. Within the tank a complete marine
ecosystem shall be established where the rockwork and general layout of the tank reflects ocean
conditions, giving visitors a clear understanding of the marine environment.

Tourism is not the only sector that benefits from the aquarium. All Underwater Worlds have a
strong educational emphasis and are staffed by fully qualified educational officers. Today there is
an increasing need to protect and care for our environment. All visitors to the Underwater World
will add greatly to the pleasure and education of the locals and tourists alike. India in general and
Your place in particular, will benefit from the development of Underwater Worlds through their
unique powers, intriguing educational programs and shared scientific information.

PROJECT CONTENT
I.UNDER WATER WORLD:

A: MAIN FACILITY

(i)Tunnel Aquarium:

The project is “Leading edge” technology designed and installed by one of the most experienced
and talented teams in the world. The project is providing the very latest and best in public
education and entertainment.

Essentially, the public pass down into an ocean creation of reef, seawater and marine creatures,
while being transported along a moving walkway, through a submerged acrylic tunnel. Full
underwater viewing creates a “thrilling close encounter” for all visitors from the smallest child to
the most elderly. The human experience below the sea, among the marine life, lasts for at least
30 to 40 minutes and may be enjoyed again and again. Large species (sharks, rays and groper)
mingle in aquatic harmony with school-fish, tiny ornamental fish, shellfish and crustaceans. Each
species inhabits their “territory” within the aquarium environment.

6
7

The main tank and curved acrylic tunnel shall be designed to allow sharks & large marine species to
maintain their normal swim-glide pattern. The most important area of the Oceanarium complex is the
main tank, which incorporates the curved acrylic tunnel. The main tank is of heavy, reinforced
concrete construction to hold millions of litres of processed water. A 2.4m wide transparent curved
acrylic tunnel, winding through this main tank is proposed for your place project. The tunnel route is
so designed to give the visitors an uninterrupted view of the marine life without disturbing the
normal swim-glide pattern of the marine life. The curved acrylic tunnel shall have a slow moving
walkway, with an adjoining fixed platform for the visitors to step aside if they wish to view a
particular species or area in detail.

7
8

(ii)Wall Mounted and Cylindrical Aquarium Tanks :

Species that are not suitably displayed in the main tank or require special emphasis or attention
would be displayed in cylindrical and/ or vertical aquarium tanks.Coral tanks with ornamental fishes
are essential. The smaller Aquaria are located throughout the building to enable the visitors “Voyage
of Discovery” to be ongoing throughout their entire visit.
9

(iii) Small Tank Displays:

Small Tank Displays are minimum planned for this Sea World. This should display smaller marine
animals in tanks, which would otherwise be dwarfed by the scale of the main tank.

9
10

B: ANCILLARY FACILITIES.

i. Audio-Visual Show:

To both entertain and educate visitors, an Audio-Visual show using the latest multi projection
techniques is incorporated within the complex. This will be used to illustrate how fish, sharks and
other creatures of the sea survive in different environments and how they relate to man. This is a
valuable addition to educate people about their environment and why they should respect it.

AUDIO VISVAL SHOW THEATRES

10
11

ii. Education and Class Room:

As the oceanarium is of high educational value, classrooms for school children would be provided
with a qualified education officer. A well-designed aquarium should be educational as well as a place
of enjoyment and amusement. The design incorporates classrooms and an office for the educational
features immediately adjacent to the main entry. Our design has a large laboratory in the curatorial
section designed for involvement by universities or the Department of Fisheries for graduate or post-
graduate studies or general scientific research or studies.

11
12

iii. Touch-pool:

Visitors are encouraged to touch and feel marine creatures that are especially selected for
handling and not dangerous. A rock pool is established featuring marine life such as – shellfish,
bivalves, molluscs, small colourful fish, baby sharks and baby stingrays – a great attraction for
small children.

12
13

C.MARINE BIOTECHNOLOGY RESEARCH:

The proposed Oceanarium in Your place would provide necessary facilities for conducting research
in several areas relating to Marine Biology and Biotechnology. As no similar facilities are available
in this country to conduct live research, we believe this facility will be sought after by all
educational bodies. The facility’s possible partners include Colleges, Central and State
Institutes/Organizations such as Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute, Central Institute for
Brackish water Aquaculture, Central Institute for Fisheries Education, Central Institute for Fisheries
Technology, Fisheries Colleges in the country, Regional Research laboratories, State Universities
where there is life science teaching and research, NGOs and Marine Based Industries.

13
14

D. TRAINING:

Considering the facilities and the expertise available, regular training programmes will be arranged
on an array of fields connected with Marine Biology, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Marine
Biodiversity, Marine Biotechnology and the Environment.
These programmes will help all the research institutions, universities and colleges, not only at the
state level, but at national and international level. In fact Your place will become the crown of
India in Tourism and Live Research once the unit is established in Your place.

CLASSROOM TEACHING

TRAINING TO DIVE UNDER THE AQUARIUM WATER

14
15

E. SEMINARS AND SYMPOSIA:

Relevant areas will be identified for discussion at the national and international level. Periodical
seminars, symposia and conferences will be arranged for the benefit of students, researchers and
industrialists. Strong tie-ups will be established with national and internal agencies that can give
meaningful inputs for the programme.

15
16

F. INDOOR AQUARIUM SALES WING:

The Extension Personnel of the Oceanarium would help interested parties to set up home Aquaria
on contract basis in and around the city. Schools, colleges, banks, industries, hospitals and other
private and government organizations can become involved in this programme.

16
17

G. SOUVENIR SHOP:
An essential component of the facility designed to ensure the customer can maintain a “ready
recall” of their experience, be it educational or environmental, and to market the experience to the
public/tourist etc.

MODEL SHOPS

17
18

H. MUSICAL FOUNTAIN:
The musical fountain will occupy the place of public reception in the project site with possible
water, rain-bow attraction. The Musical Fountain will be located in front of the Your place Sea
World building so that the natural contours of the site make for an amphitheatre style of viewing
and the whole of this area will be grassed with shade trees and flower beds for serenity and
beauty to be enjoyed by the visiting public.

18
19

I. CULTURAL FOOD COURT:

This will have a number of high standard restaurants and fast food centres franchised to cater for the
needs of visitors. Amongst beautiful landscape gardens and a short walk from the Underwater World
Building is the Food Court featuring ethnic food from each part of India and western and Chinese
fast food. An informal atmosphere in a well ventilated weather atrium will accommodate a thousand
visitors. Visitors from all over India and from abroad will also have a world class shopping and retail
area at the Sea World. Sea World will bring high quality attractively displayed and presented
merchandise from all over India and the world to give shoppers a relaxed, pleasant and elegant
shopping experience.

VARIOUS FOODCOURTS

19
20

J.WATER AMUSEMENTS:
A compensation lake will be created for storing water for meeting the replenishment requirement
of aquarium. The lake will also be used for water based rides and amusements that will help
keeping the visiting public engaged throughout the day in the sea world atmosphere.

20
21

K. AMPHITHEATRE:

Built into the landscaping amongst musical fountain is an open amphitheatre. Every evening, the
unique and adventures feature of Sea World is recreated with sound and light and special effects. A
world-class luminary production is the part of the project interior using the latest imaging technology,
which would captivate visitors to get into the Sea World complex. The Amphi theatre would be
leased out on weekends and holidays or as and when necessary for music, drama, cultural, and
other high profile events to attract a steady stream of visitors both from the local population and
tourists. The area with the exposing theatre would also be franchised to companies like Coco Cola,
Pepsi and other consumer products advertisers for contacting star night kind of programmes for
advertisements.

21
22

L. CAFE/BAR/RESTAURANT:

Eating and drinking will not be permitted in the main exhibition area in and around the
oceanarium, so special provision is made for those wishing to have a meal, drink or just relax.

Underwater Restaurant

22

23
24

V.THE COST OF THE PROJECT:

The budget cost of the project is again depending on the size and facilities according to market
condition and investment capability of the promoter. A 100m long tunnel aquarium with its
standard facilities cost US$ US$15 to 25million depending on size, numbers, facilities and the
quality of the materials used.

VI.RETURN ON INVESTMENT:

The return on investment is again based on the number of visitation and the ticket price we fix.
Normally there are projects that returned the entire cost of the projects in 16 months to 60 months’
time. The facility that was established in Jakarta, Indonesia has returned the entire project cost in
16 months as against the expectation of 60 months schedule with the visitation of 25000 people as
against the projection of 4500 per day right from the date of opening. Similarly the Auckland
project returned its investment in 14 months’ time and in India, for the first few projects, we
anticipate less than two years of payback period being first of its kind in India. We are very sure
that the places like Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, Bangalore and Chennai are the most potential places
in the world for this project now and will become the most successful projects once established
and we, with our world vide experience, sure of less than two years payback period as the
students population of these cities itself more than enough for this tremendous success.

24
25

VIII.POTENTIALITY:

The market size is adequate. The potential in India is enormous with 120 crores population. The
Facility has achieved success wherever it has been established.

 The product is unique and proven but a brand new concept to India
 The management team is skilled enough to Design, Build and Maintain the facility to
world competitive standards.
 The “Visitor Experience” is personal and lasting, which stimulates repeat visits and
spending.
 The “down side” of the risk equation is nil as far as Your place, a place with no
ocean, is concerned.
 Entertainment, excitement and educational.
 Colleges, Universities and Schools provide pride and frequent visits to this unit.
 Boom to marine biologist and research scholars.
 Boom to children’s knowledge and public education.
 Tourist attraction, number one to the state.

SOME MORE INTERESTING AND RELATED EXPERTISE

I.SEAL STADIUM:
Seals are like Dolphin and they also perform like Dolphin. International and National laws prohibit
the use of Dolphin in captivity since they frequently die of stress and they are also like human in
nature. Hence instead of having Dolphinarium, we suggest to have Seal Stadium in the proposed
marine complex with separate entry and ticket:

A Sentimental Touch

30

II.PENGUINS PARK:

Penguins are a group of aquatic, flightless birds living almost exclusively in the southern
hemisphere, especially in Antarctica. Highly adapted for life in the water, penguins have counter
shaded dark and white plumage, and their wings have become flippers. Most penguins feed on
krill, fish, squid, and other forms of sea life caught while swimming underwater. They spend about
half of their life on land and half in the oceans. There are number of aquarium around the world
maintain penguins park for lightning public attraction and these parks provide monopoly market
for the project and the entry fee to the penguin park is as it is fixed at the point of zero
competition. This will have separate entry and ticket collection.

A World of Icepacks

31
32

III. Special Effect 5D Theatre:

A minimum of three theatres featuring a audio-video show illustrating how fish, sharks and
other sea creatures survive in different environments would be provided. The projection
technology used in the theatre should range from cinematic projections and audio equipment. The
Special Effects Theatre with a circle vision screen capable of 180 projections will show international
productions on life sciences and the environment. The Special Effects Theatre built in the shape of a
dome will incorporate advanced projectors, sound and light effects. The theatres will be designed
and equipped for screening regular movies also with all special effects first time in Your place.
This will have separate entry and ticket collection.

IV. CROCODILE PARK:

Crocodile Park similar to one in Chennai works very well in your place and sourcing crocodile is
also an easy task. This will have separate entry and ticket collection.

V.TORTOISE PARK:
We could have a tortoise park adjacent to Crocodile Park with separate entry and ticketing with the
collections of many varieties from fresh water and marine water all around India.

VI. DOLPHINARIUM:
They are almost human and to be kept like our infants and if so, they play like our children, that is
marvellous and meticulous. AQUARIA Group could deliver it if your country law permits.

VII.FISHING PARK:
Fishing a hobby all over the world but such opportunity is not available in many places. It is
possible to create such hobby in any place with fishes to be caught for hobby and create a

CONCLUSION:
Among all different facilities, the Seaworld is the first to do unique facility which will provide a
spontaneous flow of excitement, entertainment and money. It facilitate the taste , not only to the
population of the concerned country but to the entire international visitors. Being able to remain
dry whilst visiting the ocean depths will become a “must see” in your place and is long overdue.

The project could be completed in two years’ time if the land and funds with other basic facilities
and clearances are readily available. The above project was designed by our Aquarium Architect
Gordon R Crowther for Saudi Arabian King on a international competition and won first First Prize
