Your analysis:
Do you feel that the materials are appropriate for the pupils being taught?
In my observation in New Society National High School the materials are
appropriate for the pupils because the students can understand. Their teacher in
T.L.E made use as instructional materials such as books. He also used puppets so
the students can get used to moving the hands in coordinated motion with the
words they speak out. This is good for the psychomotor skills to develop. The
props they will create will also make use of their creative side.
Their teacher in Filipino used posters because she believes that 75% of
what students’ learn is acquired thru vision. She said soliciting prior knowledge is
very good way to start the class. She also believes that sometimes the questions
asked are more important than the answers.
People learn in different ways. Some people are auditory learners and
some are visual learners. Others absorb and retain a great deal of information
that they’ve read while others need visual stimulants to make learning easier.
What decisions has the teacher made in deciding what materials to be used?
The teacher decide to have a materials for teaching that the students understand
carefully about the topic using the auditory and visual materials. Instructional
materials are an excellent aid for students to have the best possible way of
getting the attention of the students would be easier, the class would be more
realistic, and it gives an opinion on the topic. When the instructional materials are
well prepared and organized, a successful teaching-learning can be achieved.
The teacher adhere the principles of learning and it makes the presentation
of lesson be purposeful in thoughts as well as in action. The knowledge and skills
needed by the students to attain was almost been learned by how she adopted
the principles. The teaching itself was so smooth and the learners found very
minimal hardship in acquiring learning. An active classroom environment was
being created and the learners realize its importance in their lives.

ACTIVITY 3
DAILY LOG:
Day 1:
It was first introduced to New Society National High School to observe, I
was assigned to 4th yr section Galilie. It was their Mathematics subject and the
teacher is Ms.Polantos and their topic for the day is about measurements
particularly the area of squares. I noticed that the teacher practice the principle of
providing opportunities for learners. First, the teacher explains the topic itself,
and then gives more examples so that the students will understand it better. After
giving sample problems, the students are asked to participate. They are called
randomly to answer the problem written on the blackboard. This type of
approach is very effective because the students will also enhance their social
interaction with his or her other classmates aside from their mental skills to solve
the given problem, the reason why is that after answering the question, the
students are asked to explain on how and what did they do to answer the
questions.
Day 2:
In my second day, their subject is Science and their teacher is Ma’am Che.
By that time, they were checking their assignment, and the process of checking
was good. They review each question one by one and recall their previous
discussion. It is very effective, so that the teacher will know if the topic discussed
was retained on the students mind and if the students really understand the
subject topic that was discussed. After checking the assignment, Ma’am Che
proceeds to introduce a new topic. As a sort of review, the teacher asked briefly
what they discussed last meeting. And then going to the new topic, the principle
of teaching-learning that was commonly applied was the wise use of resources.
Ma’am Che presented a chart of the different kinds and layers of soil. The wise
use of materials really caught the attention of students that made them retain
their interest on the topic.
Day 3:
On the 3rd day . Ma’am May Ann is their teacher and the subject was
English. The teaching-learning that was applied is sharing of experiences of the
teacher and the students. They are particularly discussing about Proper and
Common Nouns and the students are asked to make their own constructed
sentences out of the given proper and common nouns. The strategy used by the
teacher is very effective because the students will be able to relate their
experiences and all the other things that they know in constructing a sentence.
Day 4:
This is the last day of my observation, their teacher in Economics
using a projector and his lesson is using a power point the students is listening
carefully to their teacher because the teacher can teach them with his attention
because he is not going to write in the board. I observe that the students are
interested in their lesson if the teacher is strict. They are very quit in that class
because if someone is noisy they will stand until the class dismiss.
INSIGHTS:
Day 1:
The teacher in mathematics try to teach her students in math to make
them easy to understand because some of the students think that mathematics is
difficult subject. She allowed the students to answer in the board. It is her
technique that the students understand easily her topic. She is giving another
point to those students who participate in the class discussion.
Day 2:
The teacher in science is recalling the topic what they have been discussed
in the past day. She is making an illustration so that the student can understand
what she had discussed. By recalling the topic and giving some question she can
measure what could be the part where the student has a difficulty.
Day 3:
As I observe in this day I learn more on different technique of the teacher
where their English teacher after the discussion she pick some students to share
their experiences using the words what they’ve discuss. It so nice to hear to share
the students where they are learning.
Day 4:
The teacher in Economics trying to do some techniques that the students
can learn how to respect every individual. He want his student listen him carefully
as a respect and teaching them with useful. Using his power point many examples
and the students explore on his topic.
ACTIVITY 4
Writing Various Techniques in Teaching a Subject Area
►As I observe the teachers are using different strategies and techniques
that can help to the students to learn about the subject. The way they
demonstrate to the students or discipline by their self. Even the classroom is so
noisy the teacher can manage it in the way of respect. For me I think it needs a
little of interaction between the students and teacher because some of the
students are shy to answer even they know it. The teacher need to think a
strategies that the students can show their ability.
ACTIVITY 7
The Competency Model in Basic Education requires the following approaches,
namely:
Flexible Approach
Meaning you can work on your own and you are self-motivated.
You can become an active member of a team and have experience in both
capacities.
You can take leadership role when this is required.
Communication Skill
You can demonstrate the acquisition of communication skills in reading
analytically, writing fluently, speaking articulately and listening diligently.
You can prepare a presentation using any tool.
Communication
You are willing to perform all tasks required of you to do.
You have the thought of completing the tasks and willing to work outside
classroom time.
Skill 1. Predicting Outcome
Write in the space below something good that will happen to education if
all education graduates can develop what is suggested in the competency model.
My Prediction
If all something good that will happen to education graduates can develop
maybe the students are not difficult to teach and many strategies or technique
can develop of the teachers. The students will cooperate to their teacher for the
better. Many students can learn more effectively and they can share their
knowledge to their classmate. There are many good effect to the students even to
the teachers. I think many students will be interested in school and being a rule
model many good attitudes can apply of the students.
Education is more effective and the students can easy to understand the
lessons. The teaching make easy and the interaction is in the four side of the
classroom. As I observed while we are doing our task, I realized that the teacher
must be creative in a way that she can be able to assess the students in their
performances. The teacher can also use the various types of assessment
techniques, to evaluate the level of the student learning capability. Because the
assessment involves the gathering data or information, established type of
product performance or recording sheet must be generated so that the students
will be equip with skills and knowledge. The teacher also requires the students to
bring portfolios. The portfolio is a systematic and purposeful way to collect and
store the outputs of the students about their work. It provides documentation of
students learning, knowledge and skill that they obtain from their teacher.
Draw, sketch, write or paste features on this page; or write an imaginary diary.

Interrogating Practice
As a start towards getting into a reflective frame, think about the last
piece of learning activities you did. List the aspects that seemed to go well;
the things that didn’t seem to work quite as well as expected and how you
might change the latter and why.

The following questions are designed to help you think about your
strategies in teaching and to give you insight into it. Read completely through
each group of items; then rank them in importance by using I for the phrase that
applies best to you. 2 for the phrase that applies next best and so on.
