PERSONAL WORLDVIEW INVENTORY

Worldview Analysis and Personal Inventory

The views and perspectives of different individuals is different depending on their beliefs

and preferences. In this paper, there is a discussion about my personal beliefs and preferences

(Cosgrove, 2006). The paper also discusses about the variation between Christian perspective

and Postmodern relativism in the healthcare industry. There is also a discussion about the seven

worldview questions in this paper.

Christian Perspective and Postmodern Relativism within Health Care

According to Christian point of view, the human beings and the universe is created by

god and he is the ultimate power that controls all the actions of the universe. Christianity

believes that the existence of god is everywhere, and he cares about all the people are been

created by him. Ethics and spirituality are both related to God, ethics is the process of deciding

what is right and what is wrong related to a particular concern. Christians believe that anything

that is done against the will of the God is ethically wrong and anything with the will of the God

is ethically right (D’Oro & Connelly, 2017). From the Christian point of view, God is the creator

of the universe and has all the powers to regulate the world and nothing can be done without the

will of the God and he always want the good for us. Postmodern viewpoint believes that nothing

is stable in the world and things are different for different people depending on their perspectives

and personal viewpoint. The view says that nothing is ethically right or wrong and the viewpoint

regarding a particular thing may be different for different individuals like one thing may be right

for one person but at the same time, it can be wrong for the other person.

There are certain concepts that do not agree with the Christian point of view, and these

theories are postmodernism and scientism. Scientism believes that to get a proper understanding

of the concept, it is important that one should rely on the practical knowledge of the concept and

should not depend on beliefs. It believes that if something is to be believed or proved, then it is

important that there should be a proof for the same (D’Oro & Connelly, 2017). The authenticity

of the concepts that are scientifically proved is quite high than the one that are based on

viewpoints and beliefs. According to scientism, if anything is not proved with the help of

science, then there is no existence of that object thus this is a drawback of the concept of

scientism (Puchalski et al., 2009). Scientism believes that the logic behind concept is quite

important to prove that a certain thing exist. One of the major drawbacks of the scientism is that

if an object or concept is not getting proved with the help of science, then it does not exist. Apart

from all these drawbacks, the theory of scientism is widely accepted and there are a lot of people

who are following the scientism theory. (Moreland & Craig, 2003, pp. 346-350)

Worldview Questions

The worldview of different people is driven by different theories and concepts and the

worldview can also depend on the various theories. In my case, my worldview depends on both

the scientism and Christianity point of view. I strongly believe on the concepts of science, also I

have a good faith in the God also.

Ultimate Reality

I believe that god is the creator of the universe and has control over all the things that

happens in the universe. God is the divine force of the universe and has the power to take all

major decisions related to the nature and the human beings. I agree with the Christian point of

view that the presence of god is everywhere and everything in this universe happens with the will

of god and I strongly agree that whatever is right in the eyes of god is ethically right.

Nature of the Universe

The nature of universe around is a combination of matter and the vibrations that can be

positive or negative. I believe that both the concept of scientism and Christianity can define the

nature of universe as the universe is made of matter which consist of various elements and there

is a description of these elements in the theory of science. On the other hand, the universe is also

surrounded by negative and positive vibrations and the presence of these vibrations depends on

various factors according to Christian point of view.

Human Being

Human Beings are one of the most valuable and important creation of the god. I feel that

the existence of human being is best defined in the theory given by the science that life and death

are parallel to each other and both are equally important to maintain a stability in the ecosystem.

According to the worldview of many people, life exist even after death also but I do not agree

with the statement. I feel that the strength and weaknesses of an individual differ from person to

person and depends on various factors.

Knowledge

Knowledge is the process of extracting useful and valuable information, I feel that an

individual should have a knowledge of various concepts and theories as this will help the person

to take a decision effectively and to increase the reliability of the decision. I think that the

exploration of god also provides very good knowledge that helps a person in the long run. I

believe that the process of learning and getting knowledge is quite good as it provides the person

a scope to improve and take effective decisions, I think that the learning should not confined to a

certain limit and one should always strive to learn new things and extract crucial knowledge

from the same. Also, learning is a continuous process and one should make efforts to gain

valuable learning.

Basis of Ethics

Ethics is the study of deciding what is right and what is wrong for a particular concern. I

believe that the concept of ethical behaviour according to God is right and one should have a

strong faith in those principles. There are certain situations where the decision of most of the

individuals is same and depends heavily on the ethical principles. The ethical nature also varies

across different religions, people and demographic boundaries. Also, the ethics can also vary

depending on the national and global existence of the concept.

Purpose of Existence

The purpose of existence of human beings is to prosper growth and overall development

of the society. I believe that all the individuals have a social responsibility to serve the society

and to add value to the society by contributing and putting efforts of the growth of other

individuals also. The growth of an individual should not be confined to themselves and should

also include other people also. I feel that main purpose of existence of human being is to develop

and make an opportunity for others to develop. I believe that the main idea of God behind the

creation of human beings is to teach values to the person.

Conclusion

As per the discussion, it can bee seen that the worldview of people depends on various

factors and is different for different people. Different worldview does not mean the person is

right or wrong, it is only the difference between the perspectives of the people like the way in

which they can take things and also their understanding and mindset.
