AUGMENTED REALITY (AR)

VOCABULARY
 RFID (Radio Frequency Identification): Remote data storage and retrieval system that
uses devices called RFID tags, cards or transponders, which consists of transmitting the
identity of an object using radio waves
 Fiduciary bookmarks: Is an object used for the observation of image systems, which
appears in the image to be used as a point of reference
 Virtual Reality Headset: A head-mounted device that provides virtual reality for the
wearer.
 Hyper-Reality: It's a provocative and kaleidoscopic new vision of the future, where
physical and virtual realities will be merged, like virtual reality and augmented reality

THEORY

Definition:
Augmented reality is a technology that complements the real world with the digital world. It
superimposes images generated by computers, smartphones, tablets or special viewers to what
happens in real time, so that the user has a better perception of reality.

History:

The term augmented reality appears around the year 1990, by the researcher Tom Caudell, who
was involved in the developments that the company made to improve its manufacturing
processes, where software was used to display the wiring plans on the pieces produced.

VR-AR

The difference between virtual reality and augmented reality is that it does not replace physical
reality, but superimposes computer data on the real world.

In augmented reality users can interact with virtual content in the real world and differentiate
while in virtual reality everything is virtual.
Virtual reality is more enveloping and has a first person view where the objects are arranged in
the three spatial dimensions.

Advantages of augmented reality in Companies

 Increase sales 'online'

The inconvenience that electronic commerce represents the inability of the customer to try or
touch their products for sale can be eliminated with augmented reality. Thanks to this technology
it is possible to develop new ways of presenting a product as it happens with virtual testers.

 Enrich content

Augmented reality is a system that serves to enrich the real world with useful and valuable
information. It offers cultural benefits, security and time savings. The technology provides
additional information in real time in a defined position or in a specific environment, without the
user having to look for it.

 Improve the image of a brand

Innovations and technological developments are increasingly popular among users and their
potential customers. A company or brand that chooses to use augmented reality gains presence
and visibility, but also acquires a certain image. Taking advantage of this trend, the brand or the
company can attract new audiences and retain their current customers.

USE OF AUGMENTED REALITY IN BOLIVIA

The use of augmented reality (RA) is becoming more and more established as one of the
technologies with the most future projection. That is why large companies are creating
applications development programs that will allow a perpetuation and expansion of augmented
reality to all fields of knowledge.
For example, this University is trying to implement a study application with Augmented Reality.
The objective is to provide a better education

Examples of augmented reality use

 Use of augmented reality in tourism: The augmented reality can be used in the tourism
sector to improve the user experience during visits to museums or places of interest.

 Application of augmented reality in business: There are multiple uses for augmented
reality in business.

 Use of augmented reality in electronic commerce: In online stores, augmented reality

applies to many areas.

 Use of augmented reality in automobiles: In some car models, augmented reality

technology is used to display information directly on the windshield.

 Use of Augmented Reality in Games: The combination between the real world and the
video game gets players to leave the console at home and have fun doing outdoor exercise
