CREW VISAS (C1D)

Airline crew performing duties related to the operation of aircraft on international flights to and from

the US, to facilitate entry of crew members into the US, the American Institute in Taiwan often issues

a C-1 and D visa concurrently for the same fee. In this case, please fill out one visa application and

pay the visa application processing fee and APC service fee. In addition, AIT may sometimes issue a

courtesy B-1/B-2 business/tourist visa to crewmembers for no extra charge.

Applying For A Visa:

1. Please follow the steps listed on the “How to apply” page to submit your application and

prepare the required documents.

2. Please bring a letter of employment from your company.

How to Apply for a Visa

All nonimmigrant visa applicants, including those who have previously been issued a visa and wish to

apply for a new one, should take the following steps to submit their applications.

 Step 1: Prepare an appropriate photo

As part of the electronic submission of your DS-160 application, you will be asked to provide

an electronic copy of your photo. The photo must meet requirements for photo submission.

● Step 2: Complete the required visa application form(s). DS-160 form

Do not use “ _ * & ( ) # ~ + = % / to answer the questions.


1. When you are ready, click on the button labeled “Start a New Application” below.
2. Write down the Application ID displayed on the top right-hand corner of the page. If you
need to close the browser before submitting your application, you will need this Application
ID to continue your application.

 Step 3: Make an appointment for the interview (Ellie will do
this)

Once when you have completed a DS-160 application form online, you will be able to print out

a DS-160 confirmation page. You can then use the bar code number listed on your DS-160

confirmation page to log into the appointment system. After completing the questions in the

system, you can schedule an appointment. Please print out your appointment confirmation

ticket and bring it to your interview. All applicants must make an appointment for the

interview, except for: applicants who are over the age of 80, certain applicants for diplomatic

or official visas, and exchange visitor (J) visa applicants participating in a program sponsored

by the U.S. Federal Government.

 Step 4: Pay the required fees (Ellie will do this)

 Step 5: Gather the required documents:

1. The DS-160 confirmation page. Please attach a 2”x 2” square inch paper photo to the left

lower corner of your DS-160 confirmation page.

2. Your appointment confirmation ticket, except those who do not need appointments (see Step

3). If you fail to present your appointment confirmation ticket, you will not be allowed into the

AIT for your interview.

3. The fee receipts, except those who have their fees waived (see Step 4).

4. A passport valid for travel to the US and with validity dates at least six months beyond your

intended period of stay in the United States, unless country-specific agreements provide

exemptions.

5. All previous passports - If your previous passports are lost or stolen, you must provide AIT with
a Certificate of Entry and Exit Dates (from 1983 to present). To obtain a Certificate of Entry and

Exit Dates, please visit the Taiwan National Immigration Agency’s website for details. If you have

reported for passport lost, please also provide the police report.

6. If you have been arrested or convicted for any offense or crime, please bring the police record

or court documents to your interview. (If the original record was not written in English, please

also provide an English translation.) Please also provide a Taiwan Police Criminal Record

Certificate regardless of where you were arrested or convicted.

7. If you have abandoned your U.S. lawful permanent resident status (or green card), please

provide proof of abandonment.


● Step 6: Appear for the interview with your documents (bring
your original passport, 1 photo, 1 EVA Letter, 1 DS160 form, 1
Appointment confirmation. Total 5 documents)

● Step 7: Arrange for passport delivery (for approved

applicants)

How do I save my DS-160 application to my computer hard drive or a disk?
Saving to a hard drive or disk will allow you to access your
application after 30 days. To permanently save your application to
your computer hard drive or a disk, select the “Save Application to File”
button. Then, click the “Save” button on the File Download window.
Identify a place on your computer to save the application, browse to
that location, and click the “Save” button on the “Save As” window. The
system will download your application to the specified location. Once the
download is complete, you can click “Close” to return to the live
application on our website. Note: Applications saved to the hard drive
of a public or shared computer or memory device could likely be
accessed by anyone else who uses the computer or device after you.
