MA Geography (Research Methods) (L8K507)
1. This programme is available at Durham City, in a full-time (12 months) or part-time (24 months) mode of study. 2. Candidates whose first language is not English are normally required to achieve an overall IELTS score of 7 with no element scoring less than 6.5. A TOEFL IBT – overall 102 with no element scoring less than 25 will also be accepted, as will an equivalent qualification. In all cases the relevant certificate should have been issued within two years of the start of the programme. Programme structure 3. Candidates shall also study and be assessed in modules to the value of 30 credits from List A: List A: Credit value Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences~ SOCI57815 15 Statistical Exploration and Reasoning~ SOCI59215 15 Applied Statistics~ PSYC40130 30 Intermediate Statistics for Social Science Research SOCI43615 15 Participatory Action Research SOCI43715 15 Assessment, progression and award 5. Candidates registered for the MA Research Methods who are in receipt of funding under the ESRC 1+3 Scheme will be considered for subsequent registration for the degree of PhD subject to successful completion of the MA programme and the meeting of all other ESRC requirements. 6. Modules Marked with a ~ must be passed at 50% or above; a mark of 40-49% cannot be compensated.
