DAILY LESSON LOG

English Grade 7

I. OBJECTIVES:
Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of: Philippine literature during
the Period of Apprenticeship as a means of examining conflicts; various purposeful listening and
viewing strategies; difference between literal and figurative language; ways to extract and
condense information based on library sources; verbal and non-verbal cues in oral communication;
and types of phrases, clauses, and sentences.
Performance Standard: The learner transfers learning by: resolving conflicts presented in
literary selections; using tools and mechanisms in locating library resources; extracting information
and noting details from texts to write a précis, summary, or paraphrase; distinguishing between and
using literal and figurative language and verbal and non-verbal cues; use phrases, clauses, and
sentences meaningfully and appropriately.
Learning Competencies:
EN7G-II-h-1: Use phrases, clauses, and sentences appropriately and meaningfully
EN7SS-II-h-2.1: Gather current information from newspapers and other print and non-print media
EN7VC-II-h-12: Raise questions about a material viewed/read.
Specific Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a. define what Wh- question is and its sentence structure;
b. identify the correct use of Wh- question words; and
c. demonstrate familiarity locally and historically of the community through writing Wh-
questions appropriately and meaningfully.

IV. PROCEDURES:
Activity:
1. Give questions about the community where the school is located, and where they live leading
to introduction of the city of Lipa.
2. Have students watch the video, “Top 10 Reasons Why Lipa is a Better Location”.
3. Do an analysis of the video watched leading to the presentation of interrogative sentences with
Wh- question words.
The teacher uses the Random Picker application in calling in students to answer.
Analysis:
1. Have students watch a video presentation all about writing interrogative sentences with Wh-
question words.
2. Discuss:
a. what Wh- questions and Wh question words are; and
b. how to write interrogative sentences with Wh- question words.
Abstraction:
1. Ask:
a. What are Wh- questions?
b. When are Wh- question words used?
c. How are Wh- questions written?
2. Do drill practice in constructing Wh- questions.
Application:
1. Introduce the news article “First batch of 21st century classrooms finds home in Lipa City” from
newsbites.ph.
2. By group, students are to construct five Wh- questions based on the given article.

V. EVALUATION:
Have students answer five-item quiz about writing Wh- questions (all about the city of Lipa).

VI. EXTENSION ACITIVITY


Entitled “Feature of My Own Barangay”, students are to construct five Wh- questions in
which the answers correspond to description of their own barangay.
