A RESOLUTION RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF

TRADE AND INDUSTRY (DTI) PALAWAN TO PROVIDE OR REINSTALL
TIMBANGAN NG BAYAN TO PUBLIC MARKETS IN THE CITY OF
PUERTO PRINCESA PURSUANT TO THEIR NATIONAL PROJECT AND
CITY ORDINANCE NO. 843

WHEREAS, City Ordinance No. 843 requires the owner/s or management of

public/private markets, supermarkets, and slaughterhouses to provide and install
mechanized public weighing scale to be placed in a conspicuous and easily accessible
area within their respective establishment;
WHEREAS, the installment of Timbangan ng Bayan will preclude the use of scales in
markets that are either tampered, altered, defective or fraudulent to the disadvantage of
the buying public in the City;
WHEREAS, previously, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in close
coordination with Local Government Unit has provided and installed some Timbangan
ng Bayan to public markets in the City;
WHEREAS, unfortunately, the Public Markets of Puerto Princesa City was leased to
Areza – Cruz Corporation and while managing the same, the Timbangan ng Bayan were
not properly maintained and removed;
WHEREAS, by virtue of the Supreme Court’s Ruling, the City Government took over
the management of City Public Markets, Slaughterhouse, and Public Transport
Terminals;
WHEREAS, this transition period of management is the most suitable time to seek the
help and support of DTI to provide or reinstall Timbangan ng Bayan for the benefit of
buying public;
BE IT RESOLVED, as it is hereby resolved, a Resolution respectfully requesting the
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Palawan to provide or reinstall Timbangan ng
Bayan to public markets in the City of Puerto Princesa pursuant to their National Project
and City Ordinance No. 843;
RESOLVED FURTHER, that copies of this Resolution be furnished to the
Department of Trade and Industry Palawan, Business and Licensing Office, City
Administration Office, and City Information Office for their information.
