• cerebral palsy also known as cp

• It is a group of permanent movement disorder
• Cerebral“- Latin Cerebrum;
-Affect part of brain
• “Palsy " -Gr. para- beyond,

IN CP

• Muscles are unaffected

• Brain is unable to send

EARLY SIGNS OF CP

• The problems occur during pregnancy

• They may also occur during childbirth or shortly after birth.[
• It will happen due to an inherited genetic factors
• babies with cerebral palsy do not roll over, sit, crawl or walk as early
as other children of their age
TYPES OF CEREBRAL PALSY

• Ther are Different types of cerebral palsy depending on which parts of brain
its affected

Mild complex
• Spastic cerebral palsy it caued by damaged to the cerebral cortex
• It cause stiff muscles (spasticity),and is the most common form of cp
• There are three different types of spastic cerebral palsy
o Spastic hemiplegia

o Spastic diplegia

o Spastic quadriplegia
Diplegic

Quardiplegic
Hemiplegic
• Dyskinetic cerebral palsy :
- it causes by dmaged to the basal ganglia
-it causes uncontrollable movements (dyskinesia)
• Ataxic cerebral palsy:
- Balance and coordination are most affected
- Balance difficulties may cause the child to walk with their feet far apart. Most children with ataxic
cerebral palsy have normal intelligence and good communication skills, but some may have erratic speech.
CAUSES:

• The cerebrum is also responsible for memory, ability to learn, and communication skills. This is why
some people with cerebral palsy have problems with communication and learning. Cerebrum damage
can sometimes affect vision and hearing.
• Some newborns are deprived of oxygen during labor and delivery.
• In the past, it was thought that this lack of oxygen d Most often, the damage occurs before birth,
probably during the first 6 months of pregnancy. uring birth led to the brain damage
SYMPTOMS:

• overdeveloped or underdeveloped muscles, leading to stiff or floppy movements

• late achievement of developmental milestones such as crawling, walking, or speaking
• problems controlling bladder and bowel movements
• Is caused by abnormal development or damage to the parts of the brain that control movement
• Symptoms normally start to show during the first 3 years of life.
TREATMEN:

• There is no cure for cerebral palsy, but treatment can help manage symptoms
• treatment reinforces independence and prepares CP patients to lead normal daily lives.
• Health Professionals for Cerebral Palsy Treatment
• Pediatrician
• Physical therapist
• Neurologist
• Speech pathologist
