A Detailed Lesson Plan

Mathematics

MODULE: Geometry
Lesson 3: Classifications of Angle According to its Measure

I. OBJECTIVES
1. Define angle and different kinds of angles.
2. Classify angles according to their measures.
3. Appreciate the value of angles in real-life situations.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Basic Concepts and Terms in Geometry

III. PROCEDURE
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

A. Preparatory Activities
1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Classroom management
4. Checking of attendance
5. Checking of assignment
6. Review of the past lesson

B. Motivation
Group Activity. The students will be divided into
five groups. Ask the students to guess the measure
of the given angle without using a protractor. The
group who has the highest score will receive a
reward.

Determine the exact measure of the given angle

without using a protractor.

1. Lesson Proper

Angle is the union of two non-collinear rays with

a common endpoint.

Angle has different kinds according to their

measures.
1. Acute angle - an angle that measures less than
90°.
2. Right angle - an angle that measures 90°.
3. Obtuse angle - an angle that measures greater
than 90° but less than 180°.
4. Straight angle - an angle that measures exactly
180°.
5. Reflex angle - an angle that measures more
than 180° but less than 360°.

2. Analysis
Give examples of acute angle.
Obtuse angle. Answers may vary. (47°, 75°, …)
Reflex angle. Answers may vary. (147°, 175°, …)
Answers may vary. (247°, 275°, …)
3. Guided Practice
Think-Pair-Share
Consider that Salinas park(P) is at the center of
the following establishments; namely, Mercury
Drugstore(D), Alfa Mart(A), Church(C) and
Public Market(M). Determine the measure of
each angle formed by its establishment using
the park as the vertex, then classify it whether
acute, right or obtuse angle.

4. Independent Practice

A. Draw the following angles using a protractor.

1. ∠B = 30°
2. ∠L = 100°
3. ∠M = 155°
4. ∠N = 174° L

B. Without using a protractor, give the missing
measure of each angle.

∠a = 63°
∠b = 30°

∠c = 25°
∠d = 26°
∠e = 90°

5. Generalization
1. What is an angle?
Angle is the union of two non-collinear rays with
a common endpoint.
2. What are the kinds of angles according to their
measures? Define each. Acute Angle - an angle that measures less than
90°.
Right angle - an angle that measures 90°.
Obtuse Angle - an angle that measures greater than
90° but less than 180°.
Straight Angle - an angle that measures exactly
180°.
Reflex Angle - an angle that measure more than
180° but less than 360°.

6. Evaluation
