THE BEGINNING OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL IMPLEMENTATION

K to 12 (also K-12) is an education system under the Department of Education that aims to
enhance learners’ basic skills, produce more competent citizens, and prepare graduates for
lifelong learning and employment. “K” stands for Kindergarten and “12” refers to the succeeding
12 years of basic education (6 years of elementary education, 4 years of junior high school, and
2 years of senior high school).

The onset of such curriculum is inevitable. Therefore, the rise of Senior High School within

SHS within SBRES WAS ADOPTED BY MADAPDAP RESETTLEMENT HIGH SCHOOL PATRIOTIC SONG and MABALACAT HYMN
Since senior high school started from scratch, everything just started to be in shape, from the
curriculum, to the books, the students, the faculty, the buildings, the rooms and even the chairs.
That being said, Senior High School within Sapang Biabas Resettlement Elementary School – OPENING REMARKS
being a stand-alone senior high school – felt the struggle of this birth.

June 2016 was the start of the first school year of senior high school; unfortunately, the building
dedicated for SHS within SBRES was still under construction. The upsurge of the spirit within the INTODUCTION OF THE BRIGADA ESKWELA
students and the faculty did not waver in this condition. With welcoming arms, Madapdap
Resettlement High School received the institution and adopted it for the first few months.
COMMITTEE
It was a struggle. With the help of four barangays – Dau, Bical, Camachiles, and Sapang
Biabas – the transportation of the students coming from these barangays made the burden
lighter, in the most possible ways. The same struggle was felt by the faculty. With the ratio of 14

teachers to almost 300 students, the everyday scenario was never easy. Schedules, subjects, and (VIDEO PRESENTATION)
rooms were randomly changing day by day. A true baptism of fire was felt by everyone.

THE RISE OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL WITHIN SAPANG BIABAS RESETTLEMENT
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

On August 2016, SHS within SBRES finally, treaded home, right where it’s supposed to be. The POST CONFERENCE
bliss of finally being home was felt throughout the atmosphere. Finally, a stand-alone senior
high school, stood on its own. Everything felt a little more settled especially with the presence of
additional sixteen (16) more faculty members. The institution started living in a single four-
storey building, a considerably small home with high hopes.

From then, the school became more confident in all aspects. Competitions are being won,
awards are being gained, and proud memories are being brought home. What was once an
adopted institution, flourished and made a name for itself up to this very moment.
