1) Locus standi can be understood as the entitlement to institute legal proceedings. In every
proceeding, the locus standi is vital to invoke the court’s jurisdiction to review administrative
actions. and if the applicant lacks locus standi, then despite the merits of the case the court
will not adjudicate over the matter. The standing is generally allowed depending on the
applicants interest in the dispute over administrative action. In India, the locusstandi
development has been largely patch work of case laws.
