MODERN MANAGEMENT THEORIES AND PRACTICES

Companies seeking modernization are part of a break with the past, to promote a
new type of business that best suits the economic and social environment. The
current process of modernization, aimed at producing more fluidity and flexibility, is
often accompanied by careful rationalization and a more explicit definition of the
different activities. Olum reveals the paradox and the presentation is to lift the
inherent threats to modernization, as conceptualized by his as being led by
managers to reduce the autonomy of the actors and, finally, for the area of business
survival. The classic texts in the field of administration contain some glimmers of
hope, in relation to the challenges posed within each space or area of the company,
as it arises in the theorization of modern companies.

Conceptually, modernity is seen as a phase of commercial transformation towards

more efficient models that are socially and economically efficient. It is the
perpetuation of the teleological vision of history when defining a new better way,
post-Taylor era.

To overcome the epistemological dualism that separates these two interpretations

from modernity, the conceptualization of a new economic and social order must
mobilize a concept of order marked by diversities, variations and contradictions,
instead of a concept of order.

By the organization of work space the company gives the cooperation mode of the
members of the company defining the contents of the tasks of each other and the
modalities of its articulation. Olum argues that the company is also a coordinated set
of people, where social links, restrictions and formal and informal rules are produced.
The company is a user of this social link, within the different strategies mobilized;
social relations constitute the third space, defined by ideological and cultural modes
of control and mobilization of employees. (Olum, 2004)
