BARANGAY SAN LUCAS SIMULTANEOUS CLEAN UP DRIVE AND SEARCH AND DESTROY ACTIVITY
 Together with the Barangay officials, headed by Punong Barangay Honesto E. Guiriba Jr, a simultaneous clean up
drive and search and destroy activity was conducted in Zones 5 and Zone 1. The search and destroy activity was
directed by the Barangay Kagawad of the said zones while the clean up activity was done in cooperation with
the 4PS members of the said zones. Dengue awaeness were given to each households visited, stagnant waters
from different parts of the house were properly dircarded and a solution was placed to help kill present larvae in
it. A total of 78 households were visited during the said activity

 Health education about Dengue was given to Day care pupils and mothers. A thourough and comprehensive
discussion was given about the disease. Discussed the means of destroying its breeding sites through regular
search and destroy activity (4S) and 4o’clock habit. Also discussed the different manifestations of Dengue,
emphasized to mothers to immediately bring their children to the nearby health facility or hospital if their
children have any signs and symptoms of the said disease. Three cases of Dengue patients are residents of
the zone where the Day Care Center is located that’s why priotization of the zone for search and destroy
activities and awareness activities is needed.

 After the clean up drive and search and destroy activity, together wit Punong Barangay Honesto E. Guiriba and
other members of the barangay council, a followed up acitivity with the suspected and diagnosed patients was
conducted. A total of 3 diagnosed patiend and 2 suspected patients were followed up. The said diagnosed
patients names were Maria Sola, 70 years old, from Zone 6, she was hospitalized for 1 week and her platelet
dropped to 18, she’s now recovering, self-protection was well emphasized during the visit. Second diagnosed
patient was a pupil from the nearby school name Chloe Marie Ricardo, 9 years old, from Zone 4, she was
hospitalized for 5 days. Her mother stated that she was infected by Dengue during their camping a week prior to
her hospitalization. Chloe’s mother also stated that 2 days after her daughter manifested the signs of Dengue
she then had the same manifestations but did not have herself hospitalized but just kept herself well hydrated
and checked her laboratories to monitor her platelet count. The next diagnosed patient was Francia Parato, 48
years old, from Zone 6, she stated that she had high fever, muscle pain, body weakness and rashes all over her
body. She then consulted a private doctor and told her that she has Dengue. She didn’t went to the hospital,
she just took medicines for her fever and also drink TAWA TAWA. Her daughter Jonalyn Parato, 28 years old also
experieced the same symptoms and took the same medicine and TAWA TAWA that she took. Both of them have
recovered and now back to selling fish from the neighboring barangay. Health education was given to all
diagnosed and suspected patients, 4S and 4’oclock habit was well emphasized.

BARANGAY SAN LUCAS SEARCH AND DESTROY
 Another Search and Destroy activity was conducted in Zone 4, still headed by Punong Barangay Honesto E.
Guiriba, Barangay Kagawad Roger Olleta and other members of the Barangay council and BHWs. A total of 78
households were visited, 5 households have presence of larvas which was found inside a can and the rest were
found on the plate’s drainer. These larvas were tested by the medical technologist of the Rural Health Facility
and 3 out of the 5 larvas were an Aedes Aegypti. Another Dengue patient from this zone was also tracked, but
still in the hospital. Another suspected patient with high fever was referred to Main Health Center for check-up
and RDT. Health education was given to all households visited, emphasized 4S and 4o’clock habit. A follow up
search and destroy activity will be conducted this Friday and on the next six consecutive Fridays. Proper
coordination with barangay council properly done for the monitoring of the increasing Dengue case.
