3 Shut Down Error Handling

Some error events cause a "Shut Down" (immediate stop) with additional inverter blockage
immediately or after repeated occurrences in sequence.
In addition, some fatal errors (e.g. "INV: brake chopp") cause complete inverter switchoff if
they occur during stillstand for longer time. This will prevent from overheating of the brake
resistor (danger of fire).
In case of inverter blockage do the following: Establish service tool connection to the
MCB_III. In case of blockage the SVT display will issue a blinking message (e.g. "Brake
switch errors clear? (SHIFT 5)" in alternation to the module level menu ("MCB_III-Menu").
By pressing <Shift> <5> it is possible to clear the inverter blockage.
Attention!
Before starting the drive again the error reason must be found and solved. Otherwise
the inverter can be seriously damaged.
Note: for a detailed error description refer to document "Service tool manual"; chapter
"Event/Error logging".

4 Preventive Maintenance
The preventive replacement of spare parts is supported by the Service Tool.

Maintenance menu (M - 2 - 8):

Status = 1 Set = 2 1 = Shows time of use of the package, capacitor bank, fan
and EEPROM
2 = Allows to change the time of use of the spare parts
Be careful when using this feature ! (see chapter 5)

5 Replacement of Spare Parts

The drive package requires preventive maintenance. The components that should be pre-
ventatively replaced have the following proposed life times:
• Fan(s): 22000 hours
Note: for the OVFWW drive capacitor bank and EEPROM device are designed for package
lifetime operation.
When the end of life time of a spare part is coming up, the Service Tool displays several
instructions. After pressing <M><2><8> one or more messages will appear:

<M><2><8> CHANGE ”SPAREPART” ”SPAREPART”: see above

Day: ddd ddd: days of the spare part
rest lifetime

< GO ON >

Status = 1 Set = 2

When the lifetime of a spare part has ended, one or more messages will appear:

CHANGE ”SPAREPART”
<M> <2> <8> lifetime exceed

Status = 1 Set = 2

After replacing a spare part, the usage time in the maintenance menu has to be adapted.

Caution!
These parameters should normally not be changed.
These parameters have to be written only if one of the spare parts described above
has been replaced.

Note: Parameters cannot be changed while the car is running.
