Band Parents, ‘The year is off to a good start and we are already gearing up for our first festival experience with Senior Jazz Band. The Vic Lewis Festival offers our students an excellent opportunity to listen to professional jazz groups, other student ensembles, a performance and adjudication with two {ntemational clinicians and instrament specific masterclasses. This trip is done in partnership with Mr. Chad Huel and the Regina Catholic School Jazz. Bands. [tis a great way for our students to interact elosely with other students their own age also passionate about jazz music. Our bands support one another, but perform individually. Friday, November Ist— Sunday, November 3rd Cost $300.00 — Parents can pay online with SchoolCash. Payments need to be received no later than Thursday, October 31st, 2019. - This levy includes transportation, accommodation, festival registration, clinic/masterclass participation, and breakfasts. - Students will be responsible for 3 lunches and 2 suppers (1 Bagged lunch) - Student cost does include breakfast on Saturday and Sunday as well as Pizza supper on Friday * Please hand in RCSD Permission/ Medical Form to Mr, Church no later than Thursday, October 24th. (Breakfast at the Hotel, Intermediate Jazz needs to be in all Black as well as Peacock, Senior Jazz needs to bring a change of clothes as they perform later in the day, Intermediate Jazz and Peacock need to bring a change of clothes, all students need their instruments and music, all students also need their money for the day) 7:15am — Leave for Performance 7:30am — Arrive (Intermediate Jazz and Peacock Jazz warms up) Artsplace 950 8" Avenue 8:00am ~ Intermediate Jazz and Peacock Jazz performs (there are 2 Jazz Bands in the performance venue, each Jazz Band performs for each other and then they go to separate areas for clinics) 10:00am — Walk to Downtown Canmore/Free time (students will need to purchase lunch on their own) 3:00pm — Everyone meets at the Jazz Performance Venue (Senior Jazz will need a change of clothes, their instruments, and music) 3:30pm — Senior Jazz warms up 4:00pm - Senior Jazz Performs (there are 2 Jazz Bands in the performance venue, each Jazz Band performs for each other and then they go to separate areas for clinics) 6:00pm — Go for supper as a group 7:00pm ~ Options for the group (Church Service, Dance and Social, Hang out at the Hotel) 10:00pm — Everyone in their own rooms 10:30pm — Lights out! Expectations of Conduct MusicDepartment 1) No Smoking at any time. 2) No drinking of alcohol at any time. 3) No use of illegal drugs at any time. 4) Ifyou have any classmates in your toom before the curfew time - KEEP THE DOOR OPEN. NO GUESTS IN THE ROOM AFTER 10PM. 5) No leaving your room after curfew. 6) Travel in pairs or more ALWAYS. 7) Once you are at the location of where the group is to be, there is no leaving the location. 8) Ifyou would like to visit a friend/relative during this trip, a note must be given to your jazz band teacher and must be signed by a parent. ***Please remember that you are participating in a school activity and as such you represent not only yourself, but your school, your band program and our city***
