public notice of the meeting was published in the local papers on September 11, 2010.
If any Board member or member of the public in attendance believes that the meeting is in violation of
the Open Public Meetings Act, the Hoboken Board of Education requests that they make a statement at
this time.
The Board wishes to make those in attendance aware that this meeting is being recorded on video and
will be broadcast by the Board at a later date on CATV Channel 77.

The Hoboken Board of Education is committed to preserving the decorum of the public process and is

1. Submitting for review and approval, I hereby recommend granting permission for Hoboken High
School to have the Senior Exploratory Experience for the 2010-2011 School Year. This will take
place from May 19, 2011 to June 15, 2011. This school initiated program offers seniors an
opportunity to conclude their Hoboken High School educational experience and requirements by
volunteering in a service-oriented manner or in a profession that he/she is considering.

2. Submitting for review and approval, based on communication from Concetta M. Drew an Early
Childhood Study Team member from Brandt School requesting a medical leave starting on
November 5, 2010 using accumulated sick days. Return date to be determined by physician.

3. Submitting for review and approval, I hereby recommend the appointment of the
following to a pool of home instructor teachers for the 2010-2011 School Year at a salary
of $34.00 per hour as per HEA contract. Funding from line item #11-219-100-101-20-
1092-000.

4. Submitting for review and approval, I hereby recommend the following teachers for the
After School Johns Hopkins Program. Salary is $34.00 per hour per HEA Contract.
Time is 2:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. from November 1, 2010 to June 15th, 2011. (Time
depends on coursework and course schedule as set by John Hopkins.) Four days for two
teachers (Level I) working on 2nd and 5th grade math and language arts. Five days for
two teachers (Level II) working on 2nd grade to 10th grade math and language arts. Not
to exceed 122 hours (Level I) per teacher and 148 hours (Level II) per teacher. Line item
is 11-130-100-101-21-0521-000.

5. Submitting for review and approval, I hereby recommend that Ms. Susan Repetti , due to
her presentation of physician’s certificate be restored to her position and payroll,
effective October 20, 2010. Ms. Repetti has been on an approved unpaid leave since
Thursday, July 29, 2010 (Board Meeting of August 10, 2010).

6. Submitting for review and approval the acceptance of up to 10 students in both the 9th
and 10th grades of Hoboken High School through the State’s Inter-District School Choice
Program, 2010-2011 School Year. (Students already admitted for the former A. J.
Demarest School are automatically continued.)

7. Submitting for review and approval, I hereby recommend, effective October 1, 2010 the
appointment of Megan Henley as a Teacher of Mathematics at Hoboken High School at
Step 1 BA $46,410.00 for the remainder of the 2010-2011 School Year. (The
Department of Education issued her certificate in September 2010, but it was not actually
received until mid October.) (Maternity replacement for Mrs. Anna Gullo).

8. Submitting for review and approval, I hereby recommend Jeanette Tarabokija for the
position of second grade teacher at Wallace School at Step 1 MA/BA60 $52,885.00
effective November 8, 2010 for the remainder of the 2010-2011 School Year. (Maternity
replacement for Ms. Janice Shikhman who went on leave effective November 2, 2010.

9. Submitting for review and approval, I hereby recommend the mentoring program at
Wallace School which consists of the following mentors and mentees:

ƒ Ms. Deana Pearly (Grade 6) is being mentored by Ms. Andrea Canonico (Grade 6)

ƒ Mr. Derek Piccini (Gym Teacher) is being mentored by Ms. Dominique Lisa (Gym

10. Submitting for review and approval, I hereby recommend Courtney Pousieux for the
position of French Teacher at Hoboken High School effective January 24th, 2011 until
April 28, 2011 at Step 1 BA $46,410. (Maternity leave replacement for Ms. Victoria
Chodos).

11. Submitting for review and approval, after examination by the Equivalency Committee, I
hereby recommend the following staff to be placed on their new payroll level retroactive
to October 1, 2010 as per Article X Salary Provisions 10.6.

13. Submitting for review and approval, I hereby recommend the following coaching position
for Hoboken High School for the 2010-2011 School Year salary as per HEA contract.

14. Submitting for review and approval, I hereby recommend the following position at
Wallace School for the 2010-2011 School Year as per HEA contract. Funding from line
item #15-401-100-100-06-1903-000.

15. Submitting for review and approval. I hereby recommend Elizabeth Sanabria who upon
approval as a Home Instruction teacher for the 2010-2010 School Year be assigned to
student number #10-1 for a period of 12 weeks.

16. Submitting for review and approval, I hereby recommend the promotion of Gloria
Valentin, from Custodian to Engineer at Wallace School, effective September 11, 2010,
salary as per HSEA contract, from 8th Step $26,980.00 plus $1,500.00 longevity
$28,480.00 to 8th Step $27,410.00 plus $1,500.00 longevity equals $28,910.00. Ms.
Valentin has completed all required training and passed the state of N.J. License Exam.

17. Submitting for review and approval, I hereby recommend Hoboken High School SBYSP
Student Center enter into an agreement with New York Sports Club to provide a
presenter/guest speaker to promote health and wellness for students in Hoboken High
School during the 2010-2011 School Year.

18. Submitting for review and approval, I hereby recommend a guest speaker from Lenape
Lifeways Inc. speak to English classes on November 18, 2010 on the subject of Native
American Culture. The cost to the district is $365.00 for a ninety-minute presentation,
charged to line item#15-202-100-500-07-0521-000.

19. Submitting for review and approval, I hereby recommend the following individuals to be
added to the pool of teachers for the Hoboken High School Homework and Tutoring
Center. The program runs from Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Salary is $34.00 per hour as per the HEA contract. Charge to line item #15-140-100-101-
07-1903-000-7541.

20. Submitting for review and approval, Hoboken High School has requested an evening of
wrestling wherein professional wrestlers from East Coast Professional Wrestling will
conduct a charity wrestling match to be held at Hoboken High School on the evening
of Saturday, December 18, 2010 from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm. roceeds from the event,
after costs are covered, will be donated to Hoboken High School. The promoter of the
event has provided liability coverage in the amount of $2 million dollars for general
incidents and $1 million dollars for each individual incident.

21. Submitting for review and approval, I hereby recommend the National Honor Society at
Hoboken High School to hold a “Rally for the St. Jude Children’s Hospital” the week of
November 29 – December 3, 2010. Throughout the week the National Honor Society
students will use SJCH supplied coin collection cans to raise money for St. Jude’s
Children’s Hospital.

22. Submitting for review and approval, I hereby recommend Hoboken High School Student
Center to enter into a contract with The Hoboken University Medical Center as
consultants for “U 2 Smart Program” to promote responsible parenthood at Hoboken
High School, during the 2010-2011 School Year. Training will consist of ten (10) one-
hour sessions; during non instructional time.

23. Submitting for review and approval, I hereby recommend Hoboken High School accept a
donation from the Hoboken Family Alliance with thanks in the amount of $225.00 for the
Senior class.

24. Submitting for review and approval, I hereby recommend that Marisol Ruiz, part time
bus aide, be transferred to part time pool bus driver, effective November 22, 2010
through June 30, 2011. Salary will be in the amount of $16.54 for 29 ½ hours per week
as needed. (Ms. Ruiz possesses the requisite Commercial Driver License.)

25. Submitting for review and approval, I request permission to apply for Hudson County

26. Submitting for review and approval, I hereby recommend the Hoboken Board of
Education’s entering into an agreement with the Hudson Schools of Technology to
provide Adult Education classes at Hoboken High School (and possibly other Hoboken
sites) commencing in the Calendar Year 2011. (Specific details and paperwork shall be
forthcoming from the respective board secretaries and/or board attorneys.)

27. Submitting for review and approval, I hereby recommend the appointment of Dennis
Doneman as phone system technician (part time) for the 2010-2011 School Year. Mr.
Doneman shall be remunerated at the same rate as approved at the December, 2009
meeting of the Board, namely, $37.50 per hour, not to exceed $15,000.00.

28. Submitting for review and approval, I hereby recommend the following individuals for
the Alternate High School Assessment Teachers for the 2010-2011 School Year. This
program will run from Monday through Friday, November 29, 2010 to December 20,
2010 and March 14, 2011 to April 14, 2011 before school from 7:30 a.m. to 8:25 a.m.
and after school from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the salary of $34.00 per hour for both
sessions as per the HEA contract. Charge to line item #15-140-100-101-07-1027.

during the 2010-2011 school year, and

WHEREAS, said program is funded through state funds for pre-school education
awarded to the Hoboken Public Schools by the State of New Jersey, and

WHEREAS, Mile Square Early Learning Center, Inc. has entered into a contract with St.
Francis Church for the rental of its facility at 310-314 Jefferson Street in the annual
amount of $87,500, said rental fee being a cost relating to the provision of said
educational program,

hereby approves an addendum to the original contract with Mile Square Early Learning
Center, Inc. providing for the reimbursement to Miles Square of the rental fee paid to St.
Francis Church, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that said rental fee be charged to account #20-218-


200-440 of the Pre-School Education Budget and that the school district is hereby
authorized to file an amendment to said budget providing for the inclusion of said rental
fees, and

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that this resolution shall take effect immediately.

Notice of Award of Professional Services Contract

At its meeting of November 16, 2010, the Board of Education authorized the awarding of
a contract for professional services to the following with offices in New Jersey, to
provide professional services to the district for the 2010-2011 school year. The
contractual amount shall be at a fee not to exceed the stated amount for the work to be
performed. This resolution and contract are on file and available for public inspection at
the Board of Education office located at 1115 Clinton Street, Hoboken, New Jersey.

24 SBA Submitting for review and approval: The Hoboken Board of Education hereby approves
the submission of the New Jersey Quality Single Accountability Continuum (QSAC)
District Performance Reviews (DPRs) and Statement of Assurance.
