Chapter 1. Overview

WCDMA Qualcomm / GSM features consist of four parts:

WCDMA Graph(refer to Ch.2 WCDMA Graph Window)


WCDMA Statistics(refer to Ch.3 WCDMA Statistics Window)
WCDMA Status(refer to Ch.4 WCDMA Status Window)
WCDMA Layer3(refer to Ch.5 WCDMA Layer3 Window)

1.1 WCDMA Graph


WCDMA Graph displays major parameters to monitor the RF environment
such as Rx/Tx Power, Ec/Io, RSCP, etc.

Procedure:

1. To open the WCDMA Graph, click the “WCDMA Graph” in the menu bar.

2. To identify the state of each test phone, click the appropriate phone tab.

WCDMA Statistics includes Call Statistics, WQ Summary Statistics, WQ Vocoder
Statistics, WQ RLC Statistics, QC GPRS RLC Statistics

Procedure:

WCDMA Status displays Mobile Information, Layer1/2 status, and Channel
status as following.

WCDMA Layer 3 includes WQ Cell Information, WQ RRC States, WQ RAB(SF)
Information, NAS Mobility Management, NAS CS Management, NAS PS Management
QC GPRS L1 Data Transfer Summary, QC GPRS L2 Data Transfer Summary, QC
GSM State Window

Procedure:

1. To open the WCDMA Layer 3, click the “WCDMA Layer 3” in the menu bar.

2. To identify the state of each test phone, click the appropriate phone tab.

2.1 WQ Signal Graph window


Signal Graph window displays the line type plots of various parameters
simultaneously.

Procedure:

1. To open the window, choose “WQ Signal Graph” in the “WCDMA Graph” menu.

The contents of the window will be updated whenever messages containing


parameters’ values are sent from test phone to XCAL-W. The color of each line can

be configured by ”Color Setting” function in ”Settings” menu.

The history of each result can be identified by line type graph with displaying the
moving trace of signals for 1 minute and the instantaneous value of the parameters
can be monitored on the upper side of each graph.

2. To identify each test phone, click the appropriate phone tab.

Field Description
Power (dBm) Received and Transmitted power of test phone in dBm unit.
RSCP Received Signal Code Power of CPICH channel with PSC.
Block Err Rate Block Error Rate of each transport channels and averaged
value of all transport channels, from 0 to 100 %.
SIR Signal to Interference Ratio in dB unit.
TPC History This record is generated every second with the samples that
are collected once every 10ms with a simultaneous process of
accumulating averaging.
PPP Throughput PPP Layer throughput in Kbps
APP Throughput Application Layer throughput in Kbps. Among the received
payloads, only the payloads Acked by the recipient are
calculated.
RLC Throughput RLC AM SDU throughput in Kbps.
Finger Finger Ec/Io
Spreading Factor Uplink/Downlink OVSF Code and Maximum bit rate.

Option Window

You can select parameters to be displayed in the window using it.

Procedure:

4. Select parameters to be displayed by checking in the check boxes in


“SignalGraphSetDlg” box. To select parameters in group unit, check in the
check box of certain group.

5. Click the “Ok” button and then selected parameters will be displayed
graphically in the “WQ Signal Graph” window.

2.2 WQ Data graph window


Data Graph window displays the line type plots of the throughput of each protocol layer
and Uplink RLC layer information (Retransmission rate and Tx window size).

Procedure:

6. To open the window, choose “WQ Data Graph” in the “WCDMA Graph” menu.

The contents of the window will be updated whenever information on throughput


and Uplink RLC is sent from test phone to XCAL. The color of each graphs or
lines can be configured by ”Color Setting” function in ”Settings” menu.
The history of each result can be identified by line type graph with displaying the
moving trace of signals for 1 minute and the instantaneous value of the
parameters can be monitored on the upper side of each graph

Field Description
PPP Throughput PPP Layer throughput in Kbps.
APP Throughput Application Layer throughput in Kbps. Among the

received payloads, only the payloads Acked by the

RLC Throughput RLC AM SDU throughput in Kbps.
UL RLC Retransmitted Number of retransmitted data PDUs / Number of

UL RLC Tx Window Size Maximum number of RLC protocol units permitted to
send without receiving an ACK.

Option Window

You can select parameters to be displayed in the window using it.

Procedure:

1. Double click on the window and the following dialog will pop up.

2. Select parameters to be displayed by checking in the check boxes in


“SignalGraphSetDlg” box. To select parameters in a group unit, check in the
check box of a certain group.

3. Click the “Ok” button and then selected parameters will be displayed
graphically in the “WQ Signal Graph” window.

2.3 WQ List Search Graph

List Search Graph window displays searching result for each pilot sets (Active,
Monitored, Unlisted or Detected) information for handoff situations.

Procedure:

4. To open the window, choose “WQ Data Graph” in the “WCDMA Graph” menu.

The contents of the window will be updated whenever list search information is sent
from test phone to XCAL-W. The color of each line or cell information in text format can
be configured by “Cellsite Color Setting” function in “Settings” menu.

1. To open the window, choose “WQ List Search” in the “WCDMA Graph” menu.
2. To monitor PSC list displayed in a line type graph, double click on the graph
and the following dialog box will pop up on the screen.

3. Set Pilot Pollution Information Setting by clicking the “Setting” button.

Field Description
User defined Active Sever Shows the number of PSC that satisfies user condition.
Count The condition can be set by clicking the ”Setting”
button.
- Different level: The difference from Best Ec/Io in dB.
- Ec/Io threshold: The minimum required Ec/Io level to be

satisfied.

2.4 WQ Step 1 Search Graph

Step1 Search window displays step1 search result by which the Peak values and the
PSC position of the Primary Synchronization Channel are identified.

Procedure:

1. To open the window, choose “WQ Step1 Search” in the “WCDMA


Graph” menu.

The update occurs upon every initial acquisition and upon receiving a new
neighbor list. The PSC Position is defined within 2560 chips.

2. To adjust signal threshold to numerate the number of signals having


strength higher than the threshold, operate spin button in the upper
right corner of the window to be appropriate.

3. To identify the state of each test phone, click the appropriate phone tab.

Field Description
# of Peak Number of signals observed during one slot period.
Exceed Number of signals having strength higher than user
defined threshold.

2.5 WQ Step 2 Search Graph


Step2 Search Table shows the Step2 Search Results obtained by the process through
which the PSC Code Group and the Frame Synchronization information are identified
by investigation of the Secondary Synchronization Channel.

Procedure:

1. To open the window, choose “WQ Step2 Search” in the “WCDMA


Graph” menu.

The contents of the window will be updated whenever test phone


executes initial acquisition operation or receives a new neighbor list.

2. To identify the state of each test phone, click the appropriate phone tab.

Field Description
Peak Number of Peaks reported. (Max 6)
Group PSC code group found (0 to 63).
Position Position information of PSC in chips unit.
(0 to 38,399)
Ec/Io Ec/Io information of Secondary Synchronization Channel.
-30 ~ 0 Ec/Io range. -30 dB to 0 dB

2.6 WQ Step 3 Search Graph


WQ Step3 Search Table shows the Step3 Search Results by which the PSC code
index and the energy of the P-CPICH are identified.

Procedure:

1. To open the window, choose “WQ Step3 Search” in the “WCDMA Graph”
menu.

The contents of the window will be updated whenever test phone


executes initial acquisition operation or receives a new neighbor list.

2. To identify the state of each test phone, click the appropriate phone tab.

Field Description
Task Number of tasks finished.
SC Code Primary Scrambling Code index.
Position Position information of PSC in 8 chips unit (0 to 38,399)
Energy Ec/Io information of CPICH.
-30 ~ 0 Ec/Io range -30 dB to 0 dB

2.7 WQ Finger Graph


WCDMA Finger table on the upper part displays the information of each finger, and
Finger graph on the lower part shows Finger’s Combined Ec/Io and the strongest
signal component by Dominant Ec/Io.

Procedure:

1. To open the window, choose “WQ Finger” in the “WCDMA Graph” menu.

The history of Combined Ec/Io and Dominant Ec/Io can be identified by line type graph
with displaying the moving trace of signals for 1 minute
The contents of the window will be updated whenever the signals assigned to fingers
are changed.

2. To identify the state of each test phone, click the appropriate phone tab.

Field Description
ID Finger ID value
PSC Primary scrambling code
Name The name of the sector that is assigned by “bts.ini” file.
Ec/Io P-CPICH Ec/Io of the Finger in dB unit.
Lock Lock status consists of 4 bits (0000 to 1111), each bit
shows the lock status for each lock threshold.
1st bit: Power control bit lock.
2nd bit : Data combining lock

3rd bit : Time tracking lock


4th bit : Lock detection threshold
The Lock status will be shown as HEX value ( for example,
1111 will be shown as 0xF)
Assign Finger assigned state.
Assigned to Active Set / Neighbor Set.
State Finger state.
New : Newly assigned finger.
prev : previously assigned finger.
Position Finger PN Position in chip unit (0 to 38,399).
Delay Delay information of the finger referenced to the strongest
signal component.
Chan The OVSF of the CPICH (0 for primary CPICH)
TPC This is the ID of the TPC combiner to use, from 0 to 5.
Div STTD: Diversity pilot.
No: No Diversity pilot.
Ant CPICH Ec/Io values from each Antenna.
Combined Ec/Io Finger’s combined Ec/Io.
Dominant Ec/Io The strongest signal component among the signals
assigned to fingers.

2.8 WQ Finger Information Ver2


There are a maximum of 12 fingers, but packets are sent for active enabled fingers.
The log record gives the important parameters for demodulating the finger.

Procedure
1. To open the window, choose “WQ Finger Information Ver2” in the “WCDMA
Graph” menu.

2. To identify the state of each test phone, click the appropriate phone
tab.

Field Description
ID Finger ID
PSC Primary scrambling code
* With Cellsite Color Setting, users are able to
categorize and select the sorts of colors suitable for
each PSC.
Name Node-B Cell(Sector) Name
* To display sector name corresponding to each PSC
in the table, user must run import cell site. To import
cell site, click Cellsite Setting sub menu on Setting
menu. For the details of Cell Site Setting, refer to
Ch.6.4 Cell Site Setting in XCAL/OPTis user guide
Ec/Io P-CPICH Ec/Io of the Finger in dB unit
Lock The condition of Lock consists of 4 bits (0000 to 1111),

each bit shows the condition of lock for each threshold


of lock.
• 1st bit: Power control bit lock.
• 2nd bit: Data combining lock

CH The OVSF of the CPICH (0 for primary CPICH)
State Finger state.

TPC This is the ID of the TPC combiner in use, ranging
from 0 to 5.
HS Cell ID Displays Cell ID in HSUPA
HS Enable Displays HSUPA system condition (Enable or Disable)
HS Ref Displays Reference Finger in HSUPA (1 : Reference

Div • STTD: Diversity pilot.

2.9 WQ TA Search Graph/WQ Finger TA Graph Ver2


WCDMA TA Search Graph window displays the line type plots of active signals and
neighbor signals of the test phone. The window shows the signal power level relative to
the time offset in chips.

Procedure:

1. To open the window, choose “WQ TA Search Graph” in the “WCDMA


Graph” menu.

Option Window

You can select parameters to be displayed in the window using it.

Procedure:

1. To change the settings of the window, double click on the screen of the
window and then the following “TA Graph Settings” dialog box will pop up.

2. Change the values in the “TA Graph Settings” to be appropriate and then
click “OK” button.
3. In order to display the CELL name on graph, “BTS.ini” file should be created
that includes CELL information. Refer to the “BTS.ini” creation in “WQ List
Search”.

2.10 WQ Delay Graph

Delay Graph window displays bar type plots of delay information for active,
monitored and unlisted (or detected) signals of the test phone with signal
power level relative to the time offset in chips.

Procedure:

1. To open the window, choose “WQ Delay Graph” in the “WCDMA


Graph” menu.

The contents of the window will be updated whenever new delay information is
transferred from test phone to XCAL-W.
The color for each PSC can be configured by “Cellsite Color Setting” function
in “Settings” menu.

2. To identify the state of each test phone, click the appropriate phone tab.
Field Description
Set Active, Monitored, Unlisted(or Detected)
PSC Primary Scrambling Code.
Name CELL name from “BTS.ini”.
Max Delay Maximum delay value among various delayed signal
components referenced to the position which is specified
in offsets by the reference counter of test phone in chip
unit.

Option Window

You can select parameters to be displayed in the window using it.

Procedure:

1. To change the settings of the window, double click on the screen of the
window and then the following “Delay Graph Settings” dialog box will pop up.

2. Change the values in the “Delay Graph Settings” to be appropriate and then
click “OK” button.

Field Description
Display Boundary The time offset of the tracked signal in X axis.
+/-48, +/-96, +/-192, +/-288 chips.
Ec/Io Threshold Minimum display level of Y axis.
Active Set Display signal levels of Active Set.
Monitored Set Display signal levels of Monitored Set.
Unlisted(or Detected) Display signal levels of Unlisted or Detected Set.

2.11 WQ PSC Graph


PSC Graph window displays the CPICH Ec/Io for each PSC as bar and line type graph
based on WCDMA finger information. The line type graph includes CPICH Ec/Io result
for the last 60 sec.

Procedure:

1. To open the window, choose “WQ PSC Graph” in the “WCDMA Graph”
menu.

2.12 WQ TPC History


The TPC History graph shows power control information of Downlink and Uplink in line
type format obtained from test phone. This record is generated every 500ms showing
the accumulated result of power control command from each frame.

Procedure:

1. To open the window, choose “WQ TPC History” in the “WCDMA Graph”
menu.

The contents of the window will be updated every 0.5 sec and TPC information is
given for each frame.

2. To identify the state of each test phone, click the appropriate phone tab.

Field Description
+15 ~ -15 (Y axis) The accumulated result of power control bits per each
frame in dB.
Downlink TPC History These are power control bits on the UL telling the DL
what to do.
Uplink TPC History These are power control bits on the DL telling the UL
what to do.

2.13 WQ RACH Graph


The RACH Graph shows access preamble information when test phone accesses
network to establish a radio link.

Procedure:

1. To open the window, choose “WQ RACH Graph” in the “WCDMA Graph”
menu.

The Contents of the window will be updated whenever there are access
attempts from test phone to network. The X axis unit is 20ms.

2. To identify the state of each test phone, click the appropriate phone tab.

2.14 WQ Cell Reselection Measurement

Set Differentiate cell’s status. Serving or Neighbor.

Name The name of the sector that is assigned by “bts.ini” file.

LAI Location Area Id of the cell.
