NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION

OF
CONSTRUCTION METHODS

If the project is awarded to us, the undersigned shall confer with the
construction engineer for a short briefing abouth the minute’s details of the
Plan and Specification . He shall then proceed to the site of work to
coordinate with the authorities concerned for another brief talk about the
feasible implementation of the subject project. They may
suggest/recommend good steps and favorable solutions to problems and
obstacles that might hinder the smooth operation of the work. We may in
turn present our working proposals to carry out the various items involved in
the most modern practice of building construction.

Nevertheless, the efficiency and quality of the work particularly in building

construction depends upon three factor , namely;

1. The availability and sufficiency of materials,

2. Experience and skill of the workers in their respective field, and
3. Complete set of tools and equipment good quality and standard
made.

Construction materials that are sufficient for the working force to accomplish
in a work period shall from time to time be purchased in the city. We
understand that in insufficient supply of construction materials increases
overhead cost. Skilled and experience workers shall be hired within locality.
By hiring experience workers who complete set of tools however high his
demand for payment is more advantageous and cheaper than hiring a
beginner with a low rate but without the necessary tools for a particular job.
The former although demanding a higher payment can accomplish work with
a better quality in a short time than the latter whose work risk repair and
delay not to mention the extra cost involved. Finally, it is universally agreed
that the efficiency of the work in building construction could be augmented
by 25 percent or more with the use of the right kind of tools aside from the
improved quality of that work performed.

The project is a Concreting of 250 linear meter farm to market road

and consists of generally Civil Works.

Upon receipt of the Notice to Proceed, the undersigned shall direct his
Construction Foreman to prepare all the construction equipment necessary
for the prosecution of the work and keep his men/workers in for contact to be
mobilized in the following day. Upon arrival at the jobsite, our camp including
quarter for our manpower personnel, offset bodega for construction material
machine and repair shop shall be constructed, and provid such related
facilities that deem very necessary for us. The areas that maybe used by us
shall of course be designated by the Inspector/Engineer, and with his/her
immediate approval temporary connection of water and power supply shall
at all times be observed, maintain, and operated by the firm under
component direction

Site Clearing and Site Layout

Site clearing shall be properly supervised or under the supervision of the

Inspector/Engineer and proper disposal of unsuitable materials shall be
taken. Site layout shall be immediately undertaken after the site clearing in
the supervision of the Inspector/Engineer. True and proper setting-out of the
work shall be done, and for the correctness of position, levels, dimensions
and alignment of all part of the structure that will be constructed.
Construction stakes establishing lines, slopes, profiles, centerlines, and
bench marks from the reference data to be furnished.

Excavation

Excavation, backfilling and concreting work shall be in accordance with the

applicable provisions of section CW-5.0 structure excavation, fill and backfill
and section CW-6.0 concrete respectively. On excavation of common
materials the foundation bed upon which structure are to be place shall be
finished accurately to the established lines and grades after a thorough
compacting and trimming of the foundation with the use of suitable tools and
equipment. I at any point,. On excavation of soft rock materials, the bottom
and the side surfaces of excavated soft rock excavation upon or against
which gravel bed and concrete are to be placed shall conform to the required
grades and dimensions as the drawing or as established by the Engineer. In
case of solid rock will shall excavated the method of excavation shall be
closely supervised by the Engineer. When concrete is to be placed upon or
against soft rock the excavation shall be of sufficient depth to provide for the
minimum thickness of concrete material is excavated beyond the lines and
grades of any part of the structure, the over excavated shall be filled with
rejected materials approved by the Engineer and shall be placed in layers of
not more than 20 centimeters thick, moistened and thoroughly compacted
by the special roller, mechanical tampers or by the other approved methods.
If any point, materials shall be filled with concrete at the expense of the
contractor including cost of all materials requred. Excavation works shall be
simultaneoulsy taken with the fabrication of forms and steelworks to
maximize the contract time.

Backfilling Works

All spaces to be backfilled or filled shall be cleared from all rubbish and
other object and matter. The excavation pit to be backfilled shall be
dewatered and loose materials shall be removed before backfilling. The filling
materials, with proper moisture content determined by the Engineer, shall be
deposited loose and by layers not exceeding 20 centimeters and then
thoroughly compacted by the ramming, rolling or by means of mechanical
tampers or portable vibratory compactors to obtain at least the minimum
compaction or as determined by the Engineer

Formworks

Formworks, staging, scaffoldings, and bracing shall simultaneously be

fabricated and installed with her scheduling. Our steel man shall prepare bas
scheduled, clean out, bend and place reinforcement according with the
drawings as directed. All reinforcement shall be secured in place by the use
of approve metal or concrete supports shall be of sufficient strenght to hold
the reinforcement throught concreting operation. In no case shall we
introduce pebbles, pieces of stone, wood blocks and similar objectionable
materials as supporting reinforcement. Sizes and spacing of steel bars shall
be shown in the drawing.

Concrete works

Concrete shall be composed of Portland cement, water, washed sand and

course aggregates meeting the ASTM Standard. All concrete shall be
machine-mixed using one-bagger concrete mixer at the site of work.
Concrete mixed shall be operated at the speed 14 to 20rpm. The concrete
shall be mixed for a period not less than 1.5 minutes after all concrete
ingredients are in the mixer. Concrete shall be place to the final position in
the structure within forty five (45) minutes from that time the ingredients
are charged into the mixer drum, and shall be conveyed by an approved
method prevents the separation or loss of the materials. Water used in
mixing concrete shall be fresh, clean and free from injurious amounts of oil,
acid alkali, salts, or organic matter.

Demobilization

However, if previous works are damaged by subsequent activities the same

shall be prepared or corrected thoroughly. After the completion of the work
covered by the contract and prior to acceptance of the completed work, our
entire camp/construction facilities shall be removed. The site shall be cleared
and cleaned.

Finally, if our performance is quite satisfactory, we are willing to undertake

an extra works or other projects of the said Agency under negotiated
contract.
