The Ramón Garay
Orchestra of Jaén
The Ramón Garay Orchestra of Jaén (Spain) emerged in 2012 for
educational and cultural purposes. Since its foundation, it has performed
continuously throughout Spain and France, under the direction of its principal
conductors: Francisco
Bernal, as conductor
of the Symphony
Orchestra; and María
del Mar Varón and
Sarai Pintado,
conductors of the
String Orchestra.

The project of the School Orchestra seeks to contribute to the

transformative growth in young musicians by accompanying them in the
knowledge of the different orchestral repertoires and fostering
companionship, respect and love for
music. The vast majority of the
members are from the province of Jaén
and they study at the professional
conservatories of Jaén and at the
advanced conservatories of Madrid,
Salamanca, Zaragoza and Jaén, among
others. In addition to this permanent
staff, the orchestra has the assiduous

collaboration of professional musicians based on the demands of the
repertoire.

The Ramón Garay Orchestra offers different programs in its concerts to

adapt to the audience needs and the stage space, including in its concerts
works of didactic character, thematic concerts and for all ages. It is assiduously
required to collaborate with other formations such as the City of Jaén Choir,
the Charanda group and soon, to perform a Symphonic concert with
Mocedades group.

The Orchestra School

has its headquarters in
Compañía Street, s/n, at the
Professional Conservatory of
Music “Ramón Garay”, with
whom it has a collaboration
agreement and where it
currently carries out the
weekly rehearsals, as well as
concerts and exchanges with
other orchestras throughout Spanish territory. It has also the support from the
Friends Association of Ramón Garay School Orchestra.

 During the summer of 2016, the "Ramón Garay" School Orchestra was
invited to participate in the International Festival “Eurochestries” that took
place in the French town of Pons, standing out due to the quality of the
concerts performed during its stay. The symphonic Orchestra, conducted by
Francisco Bernal, was recently invited to the Provencal Festival in 2019 to tour
the French province, where, in addition to interpreting international
symphonic repertoire, they will present Spanish works as a hallmark.
