Synopsis: 1 Day workshop for Educators & Support Staff This interactive workshop explores the concept of self-regulation – what it is, how it develops, how complex trauma impacts a child’s capacity to regulate and the impact of dysregulation on learning. Participants will be encouraged in how to respond to dysregulation, and equipped with a range of targeted strategies to help students build self-regulation capacity. *Previous attendance at Making Space for Learning is desirable. Key Learning Outcomes:
1. Understand what is meant by self-regulation, and how it is impacted by complex trauma 2. Consider self-regulation from a developmental framework 3. Explore what dysregulation may look like in the school setting, and how we might respond 4. Discover strategies to promote students’ self-regulation capacity
