What is your gender? You are a male, because you have a testes and short hair?

Or you
are a female because you have ovary or long hair? But, that is wrong concept. That is not gender
that is sex. Gender and sex is different. Sex is a biological concept, the anatomy of an
individuals reproductive system and secondary sex characteristics. Gender is a social construct
specifying the socially and culturally prescribed roles that men and women are to follow. In
some circumstances, an individuals assigned sex and gender do not align, and the person may
be transgender.

How does gender develop? Did your parents told you to play guns or dolls? Did your
parents told you to wear brief or panty? If yes, that is supported by social learning theory, “
Male or Female models, especially parents, as the distributors of reinforcement, reinforce
appropriate gender-role behavior.” -social learning theory.

Gender is one of the most salient and influential aspects of a persons identity. Gender
influences a persons appearance, interests, activities, friendships, interpersonal styles, romantic
relationships, and career decisions. Gender and development refers to the development
perspective and process that is participatory and empowering, equitable, sustainable, free from
violence, respectful of human rights, supportive of self-determination and actualization of
human potentials. It seeks to achieve gender equality as a fundamental value that should be
reflected in development choices and contends that Women and Men, in order to effect social
and institutional change that leads to sustainable development with equity and growth. Gender
equality refers to equal rights, responsibilities and opportunities that all persons should enjoy,
regardless of whether on is born male or female.

Who are more powerful, men or women? Both men and women have the possibility of
being more powerful in their own society and in their own way. It depends on the amount of
the determinants of power they have. These determinants are status resources, experience and
confidence. As a person gains such determinants, the greater power he/she will achieve.

My reflection in the animated video I’ve watched entitled “The impossible dream”. It
features an average family with a baby and two-school age children. While both of them
husband and wife work outside the home, the woman who puts in the same hours as her
husband is paid lesser than the man. Based on my expectations, women must stay in the house
to raise the kids, clean, cook, and lots of other stuffs, and men got to work to get money and
bringing home foods. But makes to women emancipation, now women got to go to school and
work. Women get opportunities as men for jobs or educations. That means, its double the job.
They have to fulfil their husbands orders. Its never going to be easy. That’s why I have a great
respect for career women.

Gender equality is the basic rights that a human being have to survive with self-dignity.
Women are acceptable to live in self-respect and in liberty from need. Authorizing women is
a crucial tool for proceeding development and dropping down the level of poverty. Women
that are empowered contributes to the fitness and efficiency of society and to enhance
prospects for the next generation to come. The position of gender equality is stressed by its
presence as one of the eighth Millennium Development Objectives. Gender equality is
recognized as being a significant issue to attain seven other aims.
Being that discrimination in contradiction of females involving gender-based violence,
reproductive health injustices and damaging traditional performs; left the universal form of
dissimilarity. Females carry massive hardship throughout and after charitable emergencies.

Even worse, the mother work so hard in her jobs, their children, and her husband, but
sometimes they got abused by their husband. Yes, some husband do hit their wives or do other
violent stuffs for the mistakes that their wives made. But never got to understand how hard its
is to be a woman. I absolutely hate domestic violence. Those kind of men are mean. And
foolish. And I think woman can be a fool too, for still loving and staying with their abusive
husbands after whatever they’ve done.

Yes each of one has a role and in the future we will have to build our own family. But
don’t Let the woman will do all things in the family. Let us put in our mind that having a family
is full of responsibility. Everybody should work and help each other, because as I’ve seen in
the video the mother there is like an “Octopus “ has many and long hands just to finish those
all works and serve her family. And Yes, the mother is the light of the family but it doesn’t
mean that she can do all things without the help of her family.

And as a daughter, a child in our family we also have a responsibility in our family, we
should also not let our father and mother to take care us forever, instead we should also take
care of them. Because they also feel tired. They’re just behave but deep inside they are tired,
they need rest, they need our help. Loving them is not enough but also they need our support
on them.

This situation also happened in men not only in women. And the point of this video is we
should be fair, it should have equality. Because everyone has its own potential but also have a
limitations. We should be a respectful as a human to our fellow human. Everyone of us who
live in this world, the creation of God is deserve respect. Girl, boy, lesbian, or gay deserve
respect and want equality.

This video shows how woman are brave. They will do all things just for their family, even
their husband are lazy. But not all man.

Nowadays, women can do all things that man can do. And that is gender equality. And
our ancestors are wrong in their belief that only man can work and women will stay in the
house take care of her family.

Family is defined as a social unit or structure, with members interconnected by a certain

bond or ties. Family is known to shape, promote growth, and offer sense of protection. It is also
considered to be a pillar of society because of the values it passes onto its members. That’s
why no one can help to our family but only us, the members. We should put to our mind that
having a family should have love, trust, support, and respect to each other to have a happy
family.

challenge of reducing poverty, promoting sustainable development and building good

governance.”
