The document discusses China's claim to the Spratly Islands and argues that China has a stronger claim than the Philippines. It recommends that China employ Sun Tzu's teachings from The Art of War to understand its own strengths and weaknesses as well as those of the Philippines in order to predict and achieve victory in its claim over the Spratly Islands. Specifically, it states that China should understand the five factors that determine victory according to Sun Tzu and use the Philippines' weaker military strategy and equipment against it.

“Know the enemy and know yourself; in a hundred battles you
will never be in danger.”- Sun Zi, Art of War
It is important to consider that in order to attain authentic peace and
agreement between the two Asian countries: China and Philippines, in claiming the Spratly Islands, one should always prioritize to know things in a proper and objective context. Nonetheless, I believe that the Spratly’s is for the People’s Republic of China. Having said that, Chinese people own more rightful and legitimate reasons than the Filipinos do. Correspondingly, if China could employ Sun Zi’s Art of Offensive Strategy, it can attain its victory. Fundamentally, China should basically know the five circumstances by which victory may be predicted. Thus, by successfully knowing the basic building- blocks of achieving victory, China can naturally and spontaneously execute its plans and strategies against the Philippines. In this light, it is a well-known fact that the greatest victory is to know oneself, to conquer one’s weaknesses and intensify one’s strengths. The latter statement pertains to the similarity in the capability of an individual to an aggregate whole (a country or a state in particular). However, this is not enough, China should endeavor to know also the enemy’s strengths and weaknesses. The Philippines, having a poor military strategy and equipments in war are more likely be the reasons for its downfall. China then should take the enemy’s weaknesses as its strength. Therefore, if ignorance in knowing prevails, it shall result in an inescapable fall.
