oil colors:
Titanium White

I suggest a walnut oil painting medium or a refined linseed oil.

Odorless mineral spirits. . .(I recommend Gamsol brand)
containers for mediums and solvents.
A roll of paper towels. . .viva brand works well
Brushes:
brushes are a personal choice but I recommend a variety of sizes ranging from 1 to 12
bristle brushes and some sables also. (langnickel 5590 series are great)
A few sizes of palette knives
Some type of palette. . .preferably glass with neutral grey beneath it.

Canvas:
I recommend an oil primed linen of some sort. The size shouldn't be larger than 16x20
or smaller than 8x10. And finally, a french easel or some other sort of mobile easel
to hold your canvas.
