social values are a set of moral principles defined by society dynamics, organization way
of life and cultural values. These values are implicit rule that provide point of reference to
individuals and corporations to conduct themselves properly within a social system.
Values are increasingly formed in the lives of people and in corporate culture. They shape
society’s behavior to certification enough coexistence between participants. These values
provide the limitations between what is correctly and what is incorrect, what is permissible,
forbidden, against the law desirable, lawful or punishable and, the only way they can
positively function is by a collective conformity, either explicit or implicit, that clarifies rules
in a way that everybody knows and understands the boundaries. An alarmingly large number
of people in India, irrespective of caste or creed, continue to suffer due to poverty, illiteracy,
unemployment and unbridled exploitation, even 70 years after its Independence. The efforts
done by the governments, so far, have led the Indian society towards fundamentalist and
separatist attitudes, conflicts, in-fights between different sections of society, instability, in-
decisiveness, and rigid and irrational attitude. The whole nation has been divided into
numerous water-tight political camps like pro-Hindu camp, anti-Hindu camp, secular camp,
fundamentalist camp, and caste camps into forward, backward and Dalit camps. There are
regional camps too. Attempts to place a society in different camps for selfish motives is
against the law of humanity/nature and threat to unity.
In business, social values are essential to maintain healthy relationships between co-workers
and between the company and the society. A company that conducts itself by contradict
entrenched social values will encounter severe conflict that will separate the business from
its consumers and it will surely lead to disappearance, since businesses must act towards
developing benefits for society. Governments and laws are normally established to preserve
social values through enforcement procedures. The magistrates system and government
organization are therefore created to maintain society’s proper performance. The values of
the Constitution of India. It is a Sovereign Socialist Secular Democratic Republic with a
parliamentary system of government. The Republic is governed in terms of the Constitution
of India which was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on 26th November, 1949 and came
into force on 26th January, 1950. And what is a value? Principles or standards of behavior;
one's judgment of what is important in life and ultimate values is govern to life of Individual.
Justice ensures that the freedom of one does not become tyranny for another. The Justice to
be truly meaningful needs sharing of power, compassion towards under-privileged and
empathy towards the disadvantage. An education of rights and duties becomes important to
ensure to fight for justice.
Equality is another value enshrined in the Constitution. Freedom and justice remain mere
words if equality is not ensured. It implies freedom from exploitation and ensuring to provide
opportunities for individual’s development, irrespective of the background, gender, cultural
or socio-economic identity and status.
Fraternity is at the heart of school, society and nation. Social solidarity is a vital part of a
society that has place for the aspirations of all members of society. Understanding the
importance of fraternity or solidarity and the knowledge that we all belong to a large
community, a nation and the globe is also to discover our innate humanity. It is only we
recognize our interdependence then we empower to help build a peaceful nation and a world.
The citizens need to internalize the principals of equality, justice and liberty to promote
fraternity among all, regardless of religious beliefs, regional and local diversity.
The transplant of the western form of industrial organizations in India was expected to bring
a radical shift from a dependency and personalized to a contractual work relationship, from a
steeply hierarchical to a reasonably egalitarian authority structure, ascribed to occupational
bases of identity formation. The shift did not occur to the extent it was expected. Instead,
technological requirements and job demands at many places were unduly compromised with
the socio‐cultural factors leading to soft management style which proved to be dysfunctional.
At other places, the same socio‐cultural factors helped develop a synergetic work culture
where workers and managers worked together for higher productivity and greater viability.
The critical factor which made the difference was the establishment of work as the master
value. The other social values played a facilitating role in establishing and realizing the work
values.
The inclusion of Social Value criteria within the tender process can raise the profile of local
social, economic and environmental issues e.g. high numbers of young people not in
education, employment or training .The inclusion of Social Value criteria in public service
contracts can also enable alternative providers such as voluntary organizations, community
groups and social enterprises to compete against larger organizations in what is traditionally
a very restricted market. By encouraging a greater breadth of providers, commissioning
organizations may benefit from improved value for money, business partnerships and
innovative ideas.
The country that once said to be the epitome of culture, morality, and character, is today
continuously degenerating and deteriorating in terms of morals and values. The result is that
we are seeing an increasing number of perverts, delinquents and juvenile criminals, across
the country. The pro-obscenity mass media, the valueless education system, the obsession
with western culture, and poor parenting are the prime culprits for the degeneration of the
youth of India. The addiction to pornography, violent video games, alcohol, drugs, etc. , is
corrupting the mind of a large number of youngsters and teenagers. If India has to rise and
become a great nation, it's youth, needs to be revived. Special stress should be given to
improving the condition of girls and women and to make this country a safe haven for them
conducive to their growth and prosperity.
