Four leaflets authored by a former member of SEIU-UHW's Executive Board criticizing Dave Regan's decision to fold a new 25-cent-per-hour tax into SEIU-UHW members' vote on whether or not to ratify a tentative agreement for a new labor contract with Kaiser Permanente. According to the leaflets, Regan refused to allow members to vote separately on the two matters. The proceeds from the tax would be steered into a new "education fund" controlled by Regan, according to the leaflets.

SHOULD YOU STRIKE?
- Striking with a divided union is a recipe for failure,
so why doesn’t Takeaway Dave Regan unite
members by removing his 25 cents/hour new dues
tax from the contract language?
- At the last bargaining session, Dave Regan ended
up screaming at Vallejo member, and long-time
leader, Ollie Allen. What was Ollie’s crime? He
had the nerve to ask for a separate vote on the 25
cent tax. As I learned years ago, differences of
opinion in the democratic union are not tolerated.
~ Analyze what Kaiser is offering and you WOULD
conclude the biggest takeaway for current
members, is not what Kaiser is offering, BUT
WHAT OUR UNION IS.
- “The 25 cent tax is supposed to be matched by
Kaiser. “You better believe if Kaiser ends up
conceding, their 25 cents will come from your cost
of living raise”, That results in a $1020/year LOSS
for fulltime members.
- When are we ever going to demand a STEP RAISE
for senior-members? Many have not received one
in over 20 years. Why does a more senior member
get treated worse than a member of less than 5
years?

SHOULD YOU STRIKE?
Missing from the propaganda from the Union
and Kaiser is the alleged proposed takeaways.
Before losing pay you should know exactly
what Kaiser is going to takeaway.
Ask you rep. I will bet you will not get a list. It
appears the reps are all excited about a
“historic strike”. Please!!! Talk to members
who lost homes during the 1980’s strike.
I suspect one of the concessions is that Kaiser
is not going along with Takeaway Dave
Regan’s 25 cent tax.
To sell this without a vote Kaiser is supposed
to be chipping in a matching 25 cents. You
better believe if Kaiser ends conceding, their
25 cents will come from your cost of living
raise. Thus, the 25 cents/hour is really a loss
of 50 cents/hour or over $1000/year.
DEMAND SOME REAL ANSWERS, NOT BS,

Stop Kaiser’s and the Union’s Takeaways
- On social media some are claiming that members
will pay nothing. They are either ignorant or
reiterating leadership’s talking points. YOU WILL
LOSE 25 CENTS/HOUR FROM YOUR HOURLY
WAGE.
Why is Kaiser the only division paying this tax?
Why isn’t the Hospital Division? Aren’t we one
union?
‘And why aren’t the members voting on this? At
east you can vote on Kaiser’s takeaways. Aren’t
we a democratic union? Or as I hear from multiple
staff, who call Dave Regan the Donald Trump of
union leaders. “The bully knows the vote will lose”.
What is to keep Dave from using the millions
of $$$$$ this tax will generate to fund another
one of his failed propositions. His record, “O”
wins and “10” loses. Where is there language
that prevents him from touching this
Education/ Political Slush Fund?SEIU-UHW MEMBERS
SHOULD YOU STRIKE?
- [have been told that Takeaway Dave Regan
wants a strike to take pressure off his 25 cents
per hour tax for the so-called education/slush
political fund that you will not have an
opportunity to vote on and he would control.
- Although you could lose 5 days pay for a
strike of questionable value, Dave and other
union employees will lose nothing. I suspect
there would be no chance of a strike if they
also did not get paid.
You may also be noticing increased visibility
by the union. As we all know, the only time
you see the union is when they want
something for themselves. Where are they
when you need them?
- PLEASE DISTRIBUTE WIDELY
