ANALYTIC GEOMETRY AND VECTOR ALGEBRA -35 MARKS
Note : Attempt 7 part questions from this section.
All questions carry equal marks.
Q .2 (i) A straight line passes through the points A ( -12 , -13) and B( -2 , -5 ). On this line find a
point whose abscissa is equal to 3.

(ii) Find the equation of the perpendicular bisector of the line segment joining ( 5 , 4) and
( -4 , -2) .

(iii) Find the values of k for which the two lines


kx + ( 2k + 3) y + k + 6 = 0 , ( 2k + 1)x + ( k-1)y+k – 2 = 0 intersect in a point lying on y-axis.

(iv) If ∆ denotes the area of a triangle and the coordinates of the points A,B,C , D are (6,3) (-3 , 5)
(4, -2) and (x,3x) respectively , so that ∆DBC = 1 , find x.

(b) If the line y—2 = 0 intersects the pair of lines x2 –7xy + 2y2 = 0 in A, B and if O be the origin, find
