3.0 STRUCTURAL SYSTEM

The Office space has primarily Flat slab system with drop beams &
columns suitably placed as per the design intent. The shear walls are
provided at lift /wherever required will increase the stability. The foundation
system is as per the soil consultants report & recommendations.

Note: The above structural configuration gives overall view of the structural
system for the building. However, for detailed column sizes, slab thickness, and
other structural details to be detailed further.

Terrace slab

OHT as per the requirement is considered. Cooling Towers or RO system

and pumps load are considered as per the service drawing received at the
time of design stage.

Landscape Loads if any

Landscape load is considered actual as per the final pre-defined architectural

locations.

5.0 STRUCTURAL MATERIAL

Concrete

All structural concrete shall have cube crushing strength varying from M25 to M45
N/sq.mm. At 28 days as detailed below considering standard deviation.
25 + 4 = 29 N/mm2 for M25 grade concrete
30 + 4 = 34 N/mm2 for M30 grade concrete
35 + 4 = 39 N/mm2 for M35 grade concrete
40 + 4 = 44 N/mm2 for M40 grade concrete
45 + 4 = 49 N/mm2 for M45 grade concrete

Plain cement concrete shall have cube crushing strength of 10N.sq.mm. (M10)
at 28 days. Fly ash blended cement is used in view of green building concept for
Non-structural and Structural elements. No mixing should be allowed at site or at
batching plant due to apprehensions about maintaining the quality during the mixing
process.

Page 8

STRUCTURAL R0 O

DBR

Reinforcement steel

All reinforcement shall confirm to IS 1786 – 1985 having minimum yield

strength of 500 N/sq.mm.

Structural steel
All structural steel shall confirm to IS: 226-1975 with minimum yield strength
requirements of 250 N/sq.mm.

6.0 ANALYSIS

The structural analysis will be carried out by finite element method using the
commercially available software ETABS for the load combinations as per
standards. The designs of the RCC elements are made using the limit state
method with appropriate load factors as per IS: 456-2002.

7.0 LOAD COMBINATIONS

As per IS 456:2000 the following load combinations are used for design of RCC
elements

Sl No Loads Details
1 Dead Load + Live load 1.5 ( DL + LL )
2 Dead Load + Live load + Earth quake/ Wind 1.2 ( DL + LL +/- EL/WL )
3 Dead Load + Earth quake/ Wind load 1.5 DL + /- 1.5 EL/WL
4 Dead Load + Earth quake/ Wind load 0.9 DL + / - 1.5 EL/WL

For sizing of foundations, the critical combination with un-factored loads is used as
tabulated below. As per IS: 1893 (Part I) 2002, the increase in the permissible bearing
capacities will be considered when earthquake combination governs the designs.
The designs are done for all the load combinations
listed above

8.0 DESIGN OF ELEMENTS

Designs of structural steel members are made using elastic method as per IS:
800 with relevant allowable stresses.
9.0 WATER PROOFING

The waterproofing for basement, retaining wall, Ramp, over head tanks
Sumps, Lift Pits, Gutters, drains, catch basins & Trenches are by using as per
Technical Specifications in tender document.

The waterproofing for Toilets & terrace is as per technical specification in

tender documents.

10.0 MISCELLANEOUS

The Safe Bearing Capacity (SBC) of the soil considered as per the soil test reports
provided to us .

11. Expansion Joint :

25mm wide expansion joint is provided in the Basement foot print area because of
the larger dimensions on X & Y –
axis . Direction of the expansion joint is
