Key highlights of the Report:
➢ The report shows that women and girls account for almost three quarters of all detected victims of trafficking in
2016
➢ Girls account for 23% of all trafficking victims detected globally
➢ Boys account for 7% of reported trafficking victims, down from 8% in 2014, and up from 3% in 2004
➢ Trafficked girls are typically victims of sexual exploitation, while boys are more often exploited for forced labor
➢ The report also indicates that the overall number of reported trafficking victims has increased. In 2016, about 40%
more victims were detected compared to 2011

NCAP and its implementation

➢ The NCAP will be a mid-term, five-year action plan with 2019 as the first year

➢ The approach for NCAP includes collaborative, multi-scale and cross- sectoral coordination between the
relevant central ministries, state governments and local bodies

➢ There will be use of the Smart Cities program to launch the NCAP in the 43 smart cities falling in the list of
the 102 non-attainment cities

➢ Its features include : increasing number of monitoring stations in the country including rural monitoring
stations, technology support, emphasis on awareness and capacity building initiatives, setting up of
certification agencies for monitoring equipment, source apportionment studies, emphasis on enforcement,
specific sectoral interventions etc

➢ INDUS FOOD-II with the theme of ‘World Food Supermarket’ is going to take place on 14th and 15th
January, 2019, at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida

➢ The event is aimed at promoting India as a strong and reliable exporter of food and beverage products to

and agricultural products with global value chains

Key Findings of the Report:

➢ The report says that most world economies stare at dark times in this financial year. However, it has
projected a brighter picture for India and the South Asian region as a whole

➢ The World Bank report has said that India's economy declined in 2017 due to demonetization and the
implementation of the Goods and Services Taxes (GST)

➢ In 2017, China has grown at 6.9 per cent while India's GDP growth was 6.7 per cent

➢ In India, the growth has accelerated, driven by an upswing in consumption, and investment growth has
firmed as the effects of temporary factors wane

➢ The World Bank said that in the financial year 2018-19, India's growth accelerated to an estimated 7.3
per cent from 6.7 per cent the previous year
