Our Mission: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that

build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

“For me, the Y stands for an

extension of family. I would have
never guessed that before joining the
Y or working here, but now after
being here a while and being in the
environment, I see and feel it every
day. Before getting a membership
here, I would have said it was just a
place to exercise, but it is so much
more than that. Not only do I feel it
myself, but I see it every day with the
way members and staff interact with
each other,” Dave Toole, Towpath
Trail YMCA member and employee
remarks. Read on...

MEMBERSHIP CHANGES

YMCA OF WESTERN STARK COUNTY

ANNUAL CAMPAIGN
We are looking to raise $20,000 this
year in our Annual Campaign to put
towards local families who feel they
can't afford the YMCA. Every dollar
raised in our campaign is put towards
our community members in need. Our
cause is to strengthen the community
through programs that focus on
healthy living, youth development, and
social responsibility. We educate,
inspire, and care for people of all ages,
race, and background.
Everyone is welcome at the Y! The dollars raised in our Annual Campaign
ensure that no one is ever turned away due to inability to pay. Any size gift or
donation is both needed and greatly appreciated. It will impact all families who
receive Y programs or services.

How does the Y help our community?

Each year w e provide quality child care and education for over 200 w orking
families in our community. Some families fall betw een the cracks of state
subsidized assistance. The Y helps by providing financial assistance to those
families.

In our community w e teach over 800 children to sw im each year. Any child w ho
can't afford to have lessons is offered a scholarship for financial assistance. Our
skilled aquatic staff also take our YMCA Safety Around W ater program into the
schools to educate children and prevent drow ning.

W e bring community together through our Charity Fun Run events that help
families w ho are struggling w ith devastating illness or disaster.

YMCA Active Aging programs engage our older adults in educational, social, and
healthy exercise program. Our senior citizens have increased quality of life by
participating in our Y programs.

The YMCA is a place to belong, volunteer, nurture friendships, learn, play, and
improve the health of those w ho live and w ork in our community.

Your kids will love our introductory sports program that introduces them to
the fundamentals of sports of all sorts! Parents love that the YMCA's four core
values - respect, responsibility, honesty, and caring - are infused into every
class so that kids focus on the value of sportsmanship and healthy
competition, rather than rivalry, right from the start! These programs
encourage team building, individual development, positive self-image, and a
sense of fair play and mutual respect for others. Parents and their toddler can
