Movement Lesson Plan

(With a Little Help From My Friends)

The student will respond to music with movement by

1. performing non choreographed and choreographed
movements;
2. performing traditional folk dances and other music activities;
and
3. creating movement to illustrate rondo (ABACA) musical form.
With A Little Help From My Friends - The Beatles

Form: ABABCABCA (9 sections)

● Play song just start doing the moves (students will copy) 3 min
● Ask Students to reflect on what was their favorite part of the song 1 min
○ Parts that were easy/difficult/unexpected
● Explain next section and select volineers 30 sec
● Have students lead it the second time and point at volunteers as we go through
and do the song 3 min

Specific: They are basically following a rondo (ABACA) form for this
expense, as well as they are performing specific choreographed moves to
the music.

Mesurable: The Students would be able to perform the choreography in

time during a full run through at the end.

Achievable: The students are adding more and more moves to the
sequence that gradually build onto each other to make the end point
achievable.

Relevant: I am engaging the students in dancing related to the classic

Beatles hit “With a Little Help From My Friends”
Time-bound: I can do this in 15 minutes or less

When performing this. I plan to teach this experience by doing all of

the moves without music at first that way the students are practicing good
time and watching me without the music hindering them. While teaching
them I would have them pair up in groups of 3 and do the moves with each
other in a group. All of this would follow the (Say, Say-Do, Whisper-Do,
Think-Do) Process.

I chose this music because the Beatles are a well rounded groove
ensemble and the background of this song being about friends helping one
another get by.
