Q1. Find the allowable load for the rectangular tubular column section show in fig. The effective length of column is 3.3

Q2. Define stiffened, Unstiffened & multiple stiffened element and what are the advantages of light-gauge sections. (10)
Q3. Explain manufacturing of light gauge structural members. Enlist its advantages over conventional sections. (10)
Q4. Explain in details various forces to be considered in the design of chimneys? (10)
Q5. Find thickness of the supporting lined chimney to the following particulars: (10)
a)Height of the chimney = 72m
b) Diameter of the chimney = 3.0m
c) Thickness of the lining = 100mm
d) Wind pressure = 1300 N/mm2 on the flat vertical surface.
e) Take safe tensile stress = 120 N/mm2
f) The foundation has the rest on medium soil having bearing capacity = 200 KN/m2
