Abstract

The researchers aimed to find a more cost-effective way of treating Oil spill in water

by utilizing Activated Carbon . This way, the researchers could develop a possible use for a

material commonly regarded as a bio-waste while solving the Contamination and pollution

of water. The researchers prepared 3 setups of copper solution with 3 replicates each: the

first setup was not treated with any adsorbent . The second setup was treated with 10g of

Zeolite . Lastly, The third setup was treated with 10g of Activated Carbon Adsorbent . After

experimentation, the researchers took the setups to be tested at CRL Environmental labs

and were able to find that statistically, there was no significant difference between the

Activated Carbon and the Commercially Available Zeolite Adsorbent but raw data shows

that the Zeolite performed better. Also, the Activated Carbon was effective as an Adsorbent

to oil spill in terms of final concentration, Rate of adsorption, and Oil Adsorbency .
