1.) No, because I don't know her yet.

There's a chance that she will bring me to jail because I made a bad
move and tried to snatch her purse.

2.) No, because Mrs. Jones already said that she will not do anything to me and will not take me to jail. I
think she also wanted to take care of me.

3.) I think he feels guilty for trying to snatch her purse/bag. I also think he feels safe with her because she
shows her concern to him.

4.) For the happiness that will shine in their faces

Task 5:
1) Mrs. Jones seems annoyed. She even take him to her boarding house and tell him that she wanted to
go to her house so that she could eat but then the boy suddenly came and tried to steal her pocket
books/purse.

2) Yes it is. It's normal for people to react like that when they got snatched. But, the part where he bring
the boy to her house is unbelievable.

3) At first, he thinks of running outside when Mrs. Jones is doing something, but after, he changed his
mind and stayed at the corner where Mrs. Jones can see him at the corner of her eyes.

4) I think yes, because she take cared of him and brought him to her house. She even gave him money
so that he could buy a blue suede shoes that he wanted.

5) Yes. Roger's encounter with Mrs. Jones altered his life in a good way because Mrs. Jones told him
about how she wanted to get everything she wanted but not in a bad way, and also because she forgave
him. I think that made Roger realized that what he did was wrong.

6) Langston Hughes named the story "Thank You, Ma'am" because the boy who tried to steal the purse
from the woman, instead of bringing him to jail, she brought him to her boarding house and treated him
well. And the woman even gave him money so that he could buy the shoes he wanted. Because of that
treatment, he wants to say "Thank You" to her, but, he never saw her again.

7) The woman (Mrs. Luella Bates Washington) accomplished her kindness at the end of story by
giving Roger (the boy who snatched purse) ten dollars to buy shoes, and by sending him off with hopes
that he would be a trustworthy young man.

Roger was grateful to Mrs. Bates and wanted to say more than "thank you" for giving him the chance to
be trustworthy.
