UNIT 1: STUDY GUIDE AND HOMEWORK SUGGESTIONS

Hey, guys!
Understanding you are all dedicated students and judging by the conversations I’ve been having before
or after class with some folks, I decided to make this list of extra practice stuff as a way of helping you
improve your English.
For the first unity of our school year we are studying three lessons from our Planting Seeds material,
remember? These lessons have one grammar/vocabulary topic each. I am sharing now with you where
you can find extra knowledge for each topic.
Lesson 1: A New School Year
This lesson contains basic and necessary vocabulary to be used in class, also called functional language;
e.g.: classroom rules, classroom language, places at a school. You are also introduced to the imperative
form of verbs.
Let me show you some places you can go and have further explanation and practice.

Lesson 2: What’s your occupation?
This lesson aims at introducing you to the world of work. Here you learn vocabulary about
occupations, things people do, and basic questions and answers about personal information. Here you
also hear about the famous verb to be.

Lesson 3: What’s your home like?


In this lesson you are introduced to vocabulary about housing (parts of the house, furniture), as well
as the existential meaning of the verb to be (expressed by ‘there is’/‘there are’).
