1.4.1 General instructions
Warning! Hazardous voltages are present within the equipment when a source
of electrical power is applied.
There is the risk of electrical shock from the main power supply and/or batteries. When
working on equipment with power applied, supervision of personnel is required. The
supervisor must be capable of providing first aid in the event of electrical shock.
Provision of an emergency switch or disconnection strap is not sufficient protection.
There is increased risk of accidents and electrical hazards when working on compact
equipment due to the close proximity of components. Operation of compact equipment
requires extra attention to safety. Only trained professionals can access the system to
open the cover, change cable connecting and replace SPD.
Warning! Protective shields and other safety devices provided with the
equipment must be in place when the equipment is operated.
The power system may have dual energy supply. Hazardous voltages may be present at
the main power connector and within the equipment for up to 10 seconds after
disconnecting the power supply. The operator is responsible for securing the proper
precautions for maintenance or service purposes.
Adequate insulation from ground potential (earth) must be provided when working on the
equipment.
Localized areas of high temperature (<70 °C) may occur within the
rectifier/inverter/distribution rack. Take precautions against accidental burns.
Devices, such as rectifiers and environmental control for cabinets contain fans. These
may also continue to rotate for some time after the power has been removed.
6 User manual
Warning! Heavy equipment
The weight of the equipment requires suitable safety considerations. Additional personnel
or lifting equipment may be needed. Where required, the weight of equipment is stated on
the front of the unit.
Caution! Do not restrict air flow. Fit blank panels for empty rectifier slots to
ensure correct air circulation inside cabinet.
Note! Delta recommends using wire rated for 90°C or greater for all AC and DC
connections.
Products are not liable for any hazards incurred by not following proper safety procedures.
Installation, Operation and maintenance personnel should always follow these safety
rules:
1. Please observe all warning labels and notification on the equipment. Additional warnings,
cautions, and notes specific to certain equipment and/or conditions are described in the
context of relevant instructions.
2. Please read all documentation relevant to the given task.
3. Where devices, such as batteries, that are not supplied by Delta are used, please read
and observe all safety notices and instructions supplied by the appropriate manufacturer
or supplier.
4. The equipment is designed for installation and use in areas designated as "Restricted
Access Location" only. Where the rack will be secured to a concrete or other non-
combustible floor.
5. Per Safety Standard an insulated grounding conductor, identical in size and insulation
characteristics to the supply conductors, is to be installed as part of the branch circuit that
supplies the unit or system. The grounding conductor should be green, with or without
yellow stripes.
6. The grounded conductor described up above is to be grounded to the earth at the service
equipment or if supplied by a separate derived system, at the supply transformer or
motor-generator set.
7. The AC receptacles in the vicinity of the power system are all to be of a grounding type
and the grounding conductors serving all receptacles are to be connected to earth ground
at the service equipment.
8. Before the system is operational, the AC input frequency and voltage must be verified
making sure the AC breaker rating and type are adequate and other environmental
conditions as noted in the specifications are met.
User manual 7
9. Protective systems or devices in PRIMARY CIRCUITS shall be in such a number and
located so as to detect and to interrupt the over-current flowing in any possible fault
current path (for example, line-to-line, line-to-neutral, line to protective earth conductor or
line to PROTECTIVE BONDING CONDUCTOR).
10. The system has passed stringent system testing prior to shipment. To avoid electrical
shock, the system requires a single ground point permanently connected to earth ground.
11. DC output & battery breakers must be replaced with approved replacement circuit
breakers meeting the original design specification.
12. All AC connections must be made per the latest issue of the Local Electrical Standard
and must conform to all local codes. The wiring method to accommodate different power
systems should comply with Local Electrical Standard; we suggest referring National
