and a bath. The ideal setting in the beautiful
countryside is reason enough to book a stay
here. Be sure and peek at Lill’s Herb Garden
and request a genuine, fresh Mennonite
breakfast.
You must eat when traveling and staying
within the Mennonite community. Check out
Miller’s Bread Basket where you’ll fuel up
with yummy meat and threes. Just down the
road from Healing Springs, the restaurant
is convenient and offers Amish-Mennonite
cooking for lunch and dinner along with
salads and homemade bread.
Find alternative lodging just a little ways
from Blackville at Barnwell State Park. The
park was built in the 1930s on a coastal plain
and offers three lakes, five cabins (equipped
with bath and bed linens, cooking and
eating utensils, satellite television and many
other amenities), 25 campsites, water and
electrical hookups and space for a handful of
RVs. Onsite activities include a nature trail,
fishing, boating, picnic shelters, seasonal
swimming and meeting facilities.
Attractions and tours
Redcliffe Plantation State Historic Site
in Beech Island offers visitors a glance at
days gone by through an 1859 Greek Revival
antebellum mansion belonging to James
Henry Hammond and four generations of his
family. See the house filled with furniture,
decorative arts and more. Don’t miss a look
at two slave quarters and a stable as you
reflect on the African-American culture that
resided in these rooms. Redcliffe Plantation
offers special programs throughout the year
and is listed on the National Register of
Historic Places.
Monetta Drive-In (otherwise known as
the Big Mo) is one of only two operating
drive-in movie theaters in South Carolina.
Although the Monetta theater has roots

dating back to 1951, it was later closed
before being revived in 1999. Currently
the theater sports three screens and shows
double features.
Aiken State Park, in the town of
Windsor, was built in 1934 on US 78 (16
miles east of Aiken) and offers a myriad

of activities. Located on the Edisto River,
the park has both river swamp and dry
sandhills. You’ll find good facilities here
including campsites (primitive and RVs),
a nature trail, a canoe trail and picnic
shelters. Guests to Aiken State Park enjoy
birding, hiking, fishing, paddling and

boating, and water toys may be rented
onsite.
No visit to Thoroughbred Country is
complete without a visit to Barnwell County
Courthouse & Sundial. Built in 1789, the
original courthouse was succeeded by several
buildings on the present-day site which was
constructed in 1878-79. A state Senator
from Barnwell, Joseph D. Allen, gifted the
town a unique vertical sundial in 1858 and it
remains a sought-out town icon even today.
What a gift!
See the works of 35 South Carolina
artisans at the Little Red Barn Gallery. Also
in Barnwell, the historic building, dubbed
Little Red Barn Gallery, was moved here in
the early 1950s. Master Potter, Liz Ringus,
moved her pottery business to this location
in 1998 and today you can view her hand-
turned Paw Print Pottery as well as the
showcased works of local artisans onsite.
Folks young and old love to float down
the South Fork of the blackwater Edisto
River from three different launches in
Bamberg County: Claude’s Landing, Bobcat
Landing and Brabham’s Landing. The
Bamberg Chamber of Commerce organizes
Edisto River Trips throughout the year
and you can call for dates and locations.

2019 Nissan Kicks SR CVT
The 2019 Nissan Kicks, the sixth member
of the Nissan crossover and SUV line-up, is
designed to fit the needs of singles or couples
looking for expressive styling, personal
technology, smart functionality – and
advanced safety features – at an affordable
price. First introduced in spring 2018,
Kicks enters the 2019 model year relatively
unchanged.
Every 2019 Kicks comes with a standard
1.6-liter DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder with
Continuous Variable Valve Timing Control
System (CVTCS). The engine is rated at
122 horsepower and 114 lb-ft of torque.
Combined with a smooth, fuel-efficient
Xtronic transmission, fuel economy2 is
rated as best-in-class1 in all three segments:
31 mpg city, 36 mpg highway and 33 mpg
combined. Kicks is offered in front-wheel
drive only.
Kicks also offers standard Traction
Control System (TCS), Vehicle Dynamic

2019 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV GT
S-AWC
The 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV
brings with it several key changes to
improve ride quality, handling and Noise
Vibration Harshness (NVH), resulting in a
smoother, quieter and more confident driving
experience. Revised suspension tuning,
including larger diameter front struts and
rear shock absorbers combine with a quicker
steering-gear ratio to improve stability,
responsiveness and ride comfort. Structural
adhesive application to doors, hatch and
wheel openings increases platform rigidity,
and new insulation and damping components
throughout the engine and drivetrain reduce
NVH by up to 7dB.
On the exterior, the vehicle’s front fascia
has been refreshed with a cleaner front
grille design defined by bold, solid surfaces
juxtaposed with honeycomb mesh inserts.
The headlamps now offer LED high-beams
on the GT trim and incorporate a character
line that integrates seamlessly with the grille.
The front lower bumper extension is new
and contributes to a wider and more cohesive
version of Mitsubishi’s unique DYNAMIC
SHIELD design. A new 18-inch wheel design
gives a more upscale appearance. Rounding
out the exterior changes is a new rear spoiler
and rear bumper extension, which add to the
sportier overall appearance.
Inside, newly designed front seats

Works

Amazon.com account information, and then
select the year, make, and model of their
Honda. The Key by Amazon app requests
the user ’s HondaLink® credentials,
which enables Amazon delivery agents
limited use of the remote features through
HondaLink®. Once setup is complete and
a delivery location is registered, customers
can shop on Amazon.com and select the
“In-Car” delivery option at checkout.
On delivery day, customers should
park within two blocks of their selected
delivery address. Customers will receive a
4-hour delivery window and an “Arriving
Now” notification when the delivery driver
is headed to their vehicle. Once Amazon
determines that the customer ’s car is
within range of the delivery address, the
driver will locate the car using its GPS
location. After the vehicle is identified,
the driver scans the package and requests
for the vehicle to be unlocked. The driver
then places the package inside the car and
requests for the vehicle to be relocked.
Once the in-car delivery is completed,
customers receive a notification from the
Key by Amazon app letting them know
that their car is locked and their package is
waiting inside.

receive a $10 Amazon gift card after placing
their first In-Car Delivery order.

HondaLink® is Honda’s cloud-based
connected car system, which links owners’
compatible smartphones and data packages
to their Honda’s embedded telematics
system. The subscription-based HondaLink®
system works any time the phone and the
vehicle both have a data connection, and
allows Honda owners a wide range of
features and functionality. Basic and Link
services are complimentary, with Security,
Remote and Concierge services available for
an additional charge after a trial period.
The addition of Key by Amazon In-Car
Delivery expands the already robust
capabilities of the smartphone-based
HondaLink®service and app, offering a wide
variety of complementary services, such as
the ability to make service appointments, get
roadside assistance, and receive recall and
vehicle notifications directly on the driver’s
smartphone. Additional HondaLink services
available on a subscription basis include
geofencing and speed alerts for parents
of teen drivers, a stolen vehicle locator,
enhanced roadside assistance, automatic
collision notification, remote start, and even
