Rosaldes BLIS-1 LIS101 REFLECTION PAPER

The semester is finally over. Finals didn’t last forever, and we got through it.
There are many things I have learned
throughout the semester. I learned things like
understanding the concept of library, how the
libraries work, managing it, observing the
audience inside it, the wide varieties of book

collection, from organizing, preserving,

collecting and retrieving. I also grew as a
student this semester because I overcame many
adversities and be able to get achievement.
Specially, during our prelim examination and
midterm where I was able to received certificate from our beloved teacher, Sir Jessie.

In my very first day, I had an unexplained feeling, because it’s the day of
meeting my first major teacher. I thought that my teacher would be too strict and
demanding in giving task but that’s reciprocate my first impression. My teacher was
too kind, loving and so great in practicing
humility within us. He is a figure of a
good Samaritan who allows us to enjoy
our studies without letting us feel the
burden of what they called college life.
He’s such a blessing to meet and share a bond with Sir Jessie, who has a very genuine
heart.

I faced many challenges this semester but the biggest challenge for me was not our
subject but adjusting to the school atmosphere. I wasn’t used to waking up at early in
the morning to get ready for the school plus the amount given in riding the tricycle
and inhaling dust and feeling the sweats around my body. Having lots of school
works and voluminous assignments from other subjects made my days much longer,
and this meant less sleep.

Introduction to Library and Information

Science allows me to know that there are lots of
passionate people who makes positive changes
in the world and tend to be completely happy
about what they do. Some of them were the
faculty and staff of our library including those
teachers who never gets tired to share us their
knowledge and continuously inspiring us to be
the person we want to be.

The tour in General Santos City Public

Library made also a remarkable benchmark
within myself. I definitely realize that librarians made bridges with the gaps that
exist between people, information and technology.

Having also my three awesome

classmates who never fails to impress
me with their mind blowing initiatives
and creativity to know and meet them
who always seek understanding was
truly a God-given blessing to me. It is a
privilege and honor to made fun memories and be attached to them. Although we
were just a small group, we can call ourselves a warriors who still fights and aims to
achieved the goals we’ve set in our life with no hesitations and setbacks.

Beginning my education as a Library and Information Science student at

Ramon Magsaysay College enables me truly
appreciate and understand deeply what is the
greater importance of having a library. This
course may be unpopular to others and a road
less taken career as they may say but I know
that taking this opportunity to learn more about
it would harness me to be more equip individual
in the near future.
