LESSON PLAN NO. 2

Name: MA. LOURDES B. MANGAHAS Subject Taught: Mathematics 10
Grade/Section: 10- AQUINO Date/Time: September 17, 2019/ 9:35-10:25 AM (New Bldg. Second Floor ( 3rd Room)
Rater: LUISITO A. JOAQUIN
CONTENT: Patterns and Algebra
CONTENT STANDARD: Demonstrates understanding of key concepts of polynomial function.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD: Is able to conduct systematically a mathematical investigation involving polynomial function in different fields.
LEARNING COMPETENCIES: graphs polynomial functions
OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the session the students should be able to:
1. define turning points of a graph of polynomial function.
2. determine the number of turning points of the graph of a polynomial function based on its equation and graph.
3. relate the concept of turning points of a graph of polynomial function in a real life situation.
SUBJECT MATTER: Turning Points of a Graph of Polynomial Function.

characteristic of multiplicity of root is odd?
Say: Everybody, If I say the characteristic of multiplicity of root, you will say the behavior of
the graph( Tangent or crosses), and if I say the behavior of the graph you will say the
characteristic(odd or even).

Say: Sometimes you go “uphill”, sometimes “downhill”, and sometimes you change
directions. Such a change of direction is called a “Turning Point”.
The “turning points” of a graph occur when the function changes from decreasing to
increasing or from increasing to decreasing values.

Same way in turning point of a graph of polynomial function, you will think more
complicated to graph a polynomial function if it has more number of turning points. Now,
how can we tell the possible number of turning points does the graph have without looking
to its sketch or illustration. Let us find out by doing the activity.
