Detailed Lesson Plan in Instrumentation in Math

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

1. Identify the different kinds of angles.

2. Sketch/Construct kinds of angles based on their degree measures.
3. Participate actively with the group.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic : Angles and Angular Measures

Sub-Topic : Kinds of Angles and its degree measure
Materials : marker, board, visual aid

III. LESSON PROPER

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

A. Daily Routine

1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Classroom Management
4. Checking of attendance

B. Priming Motivation

“Before we start I have a simple motivation for (Students participate)

you. I need six representatives.”

Mechanics:

When I say STRAIGHT, you place your both arms

sideward. When I say ZERO, you place your right
arm sideward. When I say RIGHT, you place your
left arm upward and your right arm sideward and
lastly when I say OBTUSE, you place your right
arm sideward and your left arm slightly upward.

“Are you ready?” “Yes, Ma’am.”

“Those who will place their arms in wrong
position, will be out in the game. You need to
respond quickly as I say the word.”

“Let’s start.” (Students follow)

OBTUSE

(After two minutes)

“Thank you for your cooperation.”

C. Activity

“Class, I will group you into two. So this side will

be the group 1 and this side on my left will be
group 2. I prepare here two envelopes for each
group. You have to draw the hands of the clock
representing the given time on the clock
provided. Then, measure its degree using a
protractor.”

“You only have two minutes to do this activity.

You may now start.”

(Give the envelopes to each group)

1. 3:00
1. 2.
2. 5:00
3. 12:00
4. 6:00

3. 4.

D. Analysis
1. From your activity, how did you form the “We form the given time by placing two hands on
given time? the clock, one for the hour and one for the
minute.”

“Very good.”

2. How did you get the degree measure of “We get the degree measure using a protractor.
each given time? We start on the initial position which is the
smaller hand of the clock then the terminal
position which is the bigger hand. The degree
measure is based on where the bigger hand
points out.”

“That’s right.”

3. How can you describe the relationship

between the hands of the clock and the
degree measure of its given time? “We can say that the wider the hands of the
clock, the greater the degree measures it will
have.”
“Correct.”

E. Abstraction

Angles are formed by two rays meet at a

common point.
C

A B

Point A is called the vertex.

BAC is formed by the two rays AB and AC.

The angles are measured with the help of a

protractor. It is measured in degree.

Initial side is the initial point of the ray.

Terminal side is the location of the ray at the

end of its rotation.

Kinds of Angles
Zero Angle – an angles formed by two coinciding
rays without any rotation.

0ᵒ

Acute Angle – an angle which measure between

0˚ and 90˚.

43ᵒ

Right Angle – an angle formed by two

perpendicular rays and it measures 90˚.

90ᵒ

Obtuse Angle – an angle between 90˚ and 180˚.

120ᵒ

Straight angle – an angle with a measure equal to

180ᵒ.

180ᵒ

Reflex angle – an angle with a measure greater

than 180˚ but less than 360˚.
259ᵒ

F. Application

“Kindly get your protractor and try to solve this

on the board.”

1. 85°
2. 118°
3. 280°

“Who wants to volunteer?”

(Three students volunteer)
“For the others, you may also try this on your
seats.”

1. 87ᵒ

118ᵒ
2.

280ᵒ
3.

(Measures the three angles drawn)

“All answers are correct.”

“Based on the degree measures of each angle,

what are the kind of angle we have there?”
“Based on the degree measures of each angle, we
have (1) acute angle, (2) obtuse angle, and (3)
reflex angle.”
“Very good.”

“Do you have any questions?”

“None.”
“So that will be all for our lesson today.”

III. ASSESSMENT

Identify the kinds of angle being formed. (10pts.)

1. Base and screen of an opened laptop

2. A letter L
3. A number 7
4. A slice of pizza
5. Corner of a window
6. A horizon
7. 12:00 o’clock
8. A ramp
9. A ladder leaning on a wall
10. A slide

IV. ASSIGNMENT

Take a picture of a place, surrounding, or a thing that illustrate the different kinds of angle we
have discussed. Print the picture and label and measure the angles formed. (20pts)
