LESSON PLAN IN MATH 7

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
 Identify the steps in evaluating algebraic expressions.
 Apply the steps in evaluating algebraic expressions.
 Show appreciation in working group activity.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Evaluating Algebraic Expressions
Reference: Mathematics 7 Book – 2003 Edition
Instructional Materials: Visual Aids

III. PROCEDURE
Preliminaries:

1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Checking of attendance
4. Review
Motivation:

“Show your body”

The students will choose a representative from each group. The

representative will write the algebraic expression in the air using his/her body and
the remaining groups will guess what the given expression is.

A1: ACTIVITY
“Matching Expressions”
Match the mathematical expressions to word phrases and vice versa.

A2: ANALYSIS
Based from the activity, the teacher will ask questions.

 What is your observation from our activity?

 Are you ready to evaluate algebraic expression?
 What do you think the steps in evaluating algebraic expressions?
A3: ABSTRACTION

A4: APPLICATION

“Jumping Worms Evaluating Expressions”

To fully exercise the skills in evaluating algebraic expressions, the students will
do the activity called jumping worms.

 Students will be divided into 2 groups. Each group will choose a member
to be the head of the worm and the tails of the worm.
 The head will be the one to get the algebraic expression, the members
will answer the expression and the tail will write the answer.
 Each group will do the activity silently like a worm.
 The first group that will going to finish first with a correct answer will be
the winner.
