Greetings!
In view of DepEd Order No. 210, s. 2016, the school will have its Gender and Development (GAD)
Seminar on December 14, 2018 at Hotel Centro, Brgy. San Pedro, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. From
1:00 pm – 8:00pm. We would like to ask from your good office to send us one speaker who will discuss
Rights of Women in the Workplace and Family, and Rights of Children. The speaker will be given 2
hours for the talk and open forum.
The objectives of the said seminar are the following:
1. Highlight everyone’s commitment and contribution in achieving a VAWC-Free community.

2. Increase awareness in addressing violence against women.
3. Encourage more people to participate and commit to pursuing the common vision of a VAWC-Free
Community.

INTRODUCTION
This report covers the highlights of activities of Gender and Development

(GAD) and Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) seminar in pursuant
to the DepEd Memorandum no. 210, s. 2016 entitled the 2016 Annual 18-Day
Campaign to End Violence Against Women and Children.
According to the provision of Section 36-B of Republic Act 9710 or also

known as Magna Carta of Women, all government agencies are mandated to
establish and institutionalize the Gender and Development (GAD) for focal point
systems (GFPS)
The seminar workshop aims to address the needs of the teachers in terms
of gender equality and rights. It also encourages them to participate or get
involved in the training especially on the management and leadership skills
among others and be a part of developing solutions to the many challenges
adolescent girls face worldwide and give girls everywhere the opportunity to
become healthy and empowered women.
OBJECTIVES:
1. Highlight everyone’s commitment and contribution in achieving a VAWC-Free
community.
2. Increase awareness in addressing violence against women.
3. Encourage more people to participate and commit to pursuing the common vision of
a VAWC-Free Community.

INSIGHTS GAINED
1. The female teachers have been re-acquainted with their rights with regards
to our law. As for the male teachers, they have learned the value and
implementation of GAD in the workplace.
2. The teachers have learned to be sensitive in choosing learning materials

(readings, illustrations, etc.), that it should not exhibit gender stereotype
contents.
3. The school should designate a focal person who is in-charge of promoting

gender equality in the school.
4. The school should establish a Teen Hub where students could interact with
their fellow students and their teachers.
