Part I

Stars. Before, stars were just basics to me and I almost couldn’t care any less,
not until when we discussed them elaborately and from then on, I became fond of them.
They played a big role in our universe and that isn’t something to ignore. They stared
from just gases and turned out way bigger that we thought. Also, I like stars because
they represent us, living things, somehow. They’re given a gift of life just like us. The
moment we are born in this world, we have our purpose. Stars’ purpose is to give light
on earth, not much as the sun and moon and do though, but they do give enough. We,
humans, can give “light” to others, we can be inspirations and role models to anyone.
Also, they have a purpose of comparison. If we just look up and see stars from where
we stand, we can see many, but, if we used a telescope, we would see so many stars
that what we’ve imagined. Just like us, people may see us as the way it is but there is
more to ourselves.

Part II

Big History depicts our lives. We all started from nothing to something. We were
born with a purpose here on earth. There are thresholds that we’ve come across in our
lives that changed us for what we are right now, probably. There are turning points that
we can or cannot see. When there is change, there should be improvement tagging
along.

For example, before I set foot to college, I was just this young lady who isn’t
prepared for anything at all. I was so indecisive, impulsive, almost as someone that
doesn’t think at all. Mañana habit really was a negative trait of me that has become
prevalent in our generation. I procrastinate, but not to the point I neglect all my
responsibilities though. That all changed the moment this threshold, the so called
college, has finally came. I just realized that this chapter of my life wouldn’t be the same
the previous ones. I can’t slack off anymore because my responsibilities have weighed
down heavier than before. I opened my eyes and mind that I should be mature more
from now on because this is the path that would get me closer and closer to my dream
in life. And just like Big History, we can never tell what our future holds for us but there
is something that we could do to make it better as of now. The happenings in my life
can have a huge impact on what could happen in the future. And so I should do things
and make choices wisely.

Part III

A Star is Born

Beyond blessed to have a gift of life,

In this world of day and night.

Obstacles may come and so we can strive,

Not giving up without a fight.

Stars made by cloud of gases,

Just like us, humans, by science.

Our life cycles can be similar in some cases,

That’s why we should move with such compliance.

A star can explode and be a supernova with its peak luminosity,

Like humans exploding full of emotions.

Everything that occurs leads us to curiosity,

Off we go and do some actions.

Stars have their limits, too,

As people can have their endings as well.

This is something to be considered as true,

And so in the past we shouldn’t dwell.

Part IV

Reflections

Threshold 1: Big Bang

Before even discussed, the scope of all of these were included in the 13.7 billion
years span of Big History. In order to come up with the Big Bang, there crucial
ingredients to know: time, space, matter, and energy. Without these, we’re basically
nothing, we won’t have anything. Also, when this occurred, I learned that there isn’t only
just gravity that keeps us grounded, but there were three more which are the
electromagnetic force, strong and weak nuclear forces. The universe wouldn’t be as
what it is right niw if it weren’t for protons, electrons, and neutrons. They also played
important roles to the Big Bang, just like what we have now, we wouldn’t be who we are
without our family and friends. If there were things that molded the universe, there also
would be ones in ours.

There were proofs that Big Bang realky did happen. I considered all these
possibilities but I strongly believe and depend on the fact that God created all of these.

Threshold 2: Stars

When this threshold was first introduced to me, I was actually amazed. I didn’t
know there was too many processes that made stars happen. It basically elaborated the
“fusion” method which doesn’t just happen scientifically, but caln also happen in our
lives. For example, a combination of optimism and compassion, this will lead to a good
and positive life, and that’s what I personally do. Just like stars, my “fuel” to “light up”
are my inspirations in life. They make me want to be at my “brightest”. We are like stars,
we were born to stand out but we should be aware of our limitations.

Threshold 3: Chemical Elements

As for this threshold, it really helped me retrieve my knowledge about the formed
chemical elements that I’ve encountered before in the past. There were additional
information about it and widened my comprehension more regarding this threshold. I
also learned that it’s fine to have stars’ limits because it’s still not the end for them, they
can still be useful for something. An aging and dying star along with a very high
temperature could actually form an element. In life, we die with a purpose here in earth,
we don’t die for nothing.

Threshold 4: Earth & Planets

What I realized about this was even thoughhow dangerous it is to reach or just to
be near the Sun, it still is an essential thing to make us live. It is known to be the main
source of energy. There are different theories as well and I thought that we should
reapect one another’s perpectives about certain things. We all have different
capabalities, beliefs, and conspiracies in our very own lives. Each planet certainly have
their own unique characteristics and “abilities”, and that’s how we can be similar. I know
I am a unique human being and so is everyone.
