Corrosion protection and bonding agents
Corrosion protection to ensure security
Protecting concrete reinforcement
In order to preserve the durability of reinforced concrete as a construction material, both the concrete and its reinforcement steels
need to be protected.
An important manner in which this material is damaged is through corrosion of the reinforcement steel as a result of high
carbonation depths. However, the intrusion of chloride (e.g. salt water) can also lead to lasting damage of the reinforcement steel.
The most common form of corrosion-proofing coating involves synthetically-modified cement-bound systems (PCC). As an alternative,
depending on the application or other coating procedures, it is also possible to use epoxy resin-based corrosion protection coatings.

Mortars and grouts
Mortars and grouts for restoration
The right mortar and grout for any application.
A holistic solution is one which takes into account all relevant issues for the entire process of repairing concrete structures, and does so
while remaining economical.
An outstanding example of this is provided by the quick repair mortar StoCrete SM. Thanks to the fact that reprofiling and fine levelling all
take place in a single operation, the time savings offer financial savings to the investor, as well as to the company doing the work.

Hydrophobic agents and primers for surface protection
Innovative protection against harmful substances
Lasting protection at minimal expense
Preventive, ecologically and economically acceptable measures are available to provide buildings with
sustained protection by means of manageable technical processes. One effective method is the deep impregnation of reinforced
concrete structures using hydrophobic agents.
Good to know: this method has minimal impact on appearance of fair faced concrete.

Sealers and coatings
Sealers and coatings for surface protection
Sealers help prevent water absorption
Sealers partially fill the capillary pores on the surface of the concrete. By forming a thin film over the surface, they act to prevent
water absorption. This means that water-based pollutants cannot enter either. Carbon dioxide diffusion is reduced. Sealers can be
applied colourless, with a glazed-like finish or as a covering, allowing them to be used with a variety of designs. However thin sealer
coatings are not suitable for components subjected to high levels of mechanical or chemical stress.

Fast and reliable closure of cracks
Cracks in concrete components
Cracks in reinforced concrete are typical of concrete structures and cannot be entirely avoided. While concrete has a high compressive
strength, its tensile strength is very low. As a result, tensile forces need to be absorbed by its reinforcement steel. If the changes in the
dimensions of the steel exceed the elasticity of the concrete, cracks are formed.

The right injection packer The following binder solutions are available depending on the area of use:
Sto offers two different types of injection system for injecting epoxy and Epoxy resins (EP)
polyurethane resins. Impact drill packers are suitable for use with These materials are designed for the structural bonding of the sides of cracks. They are able to transfer forces which are incurred from one side of
polyurethane resins. They are primarily used when cracks need to be filled a crack to the other without deformation. Structural bonding using EP resins is only possible with dry cracks.
with high pressure from the inside towards the outside.
Polyurethane resins (PUR)
Adhesive cylinder type packers, on the other hand, can only be used for dry These injection materials are used to flexibly bond the sides of cracks together. They provide reliable protection against the corrosion of
cracks. They are employed for repairing cracks on thin structural elements, reinforcement steel. PUR resins can also be used to lastingly seal damp cracks and cracks subject to water pressure.

Waterproofing, tile adhesive and joint sealant
Waterproofing, tile adhesive and joint sealant
Waterproofing has always been one of the most basic needs for all buildings and early failures can cause many tangible
and intangible losses to the owners. In some cases, catastrophic failures can also occur due to improper systems applied
to the critical areas.
At Sto, we always believe in the importance of doing it right the first time. Restoring a building to its former glory after the damages
caused by waterproofing failures can be very stressful and time consuming in most cases.
Sto waterproofing products and systems have been designed to cater for demanding situations and specifications in order to adapt to
the needs of the market and our environment. You will have a peaceful mind knowing that your most valuable assets and
investments are in safe hands when Sto is involved.

Solutions for surface treatment
Surface treatment to improve durability of concrete
Curing compounds are used to prevent rapid loss of moisture. It plays an important role on strength development and durability of
concrete. Curing takes place immediately after concrete casting and finishing, and involves maintenance of desired moisture and
temperature conditions, both at depth and near the surface, for extended periods of time. Properly cured concrete has a sufficient
amount of moisture for continued hydration and development of strength, volume stability and abrasion and scaling resistance.
The traditional method to prevent loss of moisture on concrete slab is to water-cure the surface. The surface of the concrete has
to be kept moist for 72 hours; hence spraying of water at intervals is needed. This method of curing is extremely time and labour
consuming. Sto’s range of curing compounds are suitable for curing large areas of concrete construction such as runways, industrial
concrete floors, motor ways, bridgeworks and literally all exposed cement based surfaces and can be applied right after the casting
of the concrete and leave to dry until desired strength is obtained. This easy to apply and cost effective method has excellent curing
efficiency and eliminates the need for messy damp hessian or plastic sheets.

K-Building - Sto new voyage logo
K-Building was built in 1997 and designed by European post modernist architect
Michael Wilford. The entire building incorporates a new design concept and was
awarded the 1999 Royal Academy of Architecture Award for its unique styling and
novelty (Royal Institute of British Architects) European.
In 1990, the merger of East and West Germany brought a huge market to the
entire western German enterprise. The plan to rebuild the eastern Germany
injected vitality into the construction industry. Sto seized this rare business
opportunity and participated in the construction of eastern Germany. The resulting
business growth has brought unprecedented growth to Sto.
In order to meet the development needs, Sto invested a lot of money to build new
factories and branches throughout Germany. The plan to build K-Building at the
company's headquarters was brewed at this time. For Sto, its significance goes far
beyond the building itself. She symbolizes hope and embarrassment and marks the
beginning of Sto's new voyage.
K-Building incorporates a new styling language and makes bold attempts on the
facade and space of the building, reflecting Sto's understanding and perception of
architectural aesthetics as a practitioner in the field of architecture.
Winner of the 1999 Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) award in the category
"Commercial Building". The marketing and communication building or K-Building in short,
designed by Wilford Schupp Architects, London/Stuttgart.
