SIMTA MACHINERY LTD.


1.INTRODUCTION:

This report is a short description of my one week internship carried out as compulsory
component of the MBA Programme. The internship was carried out at SIMTA machinery ltd -
Coimbatore for the period Nov 20th – Nov 25th 2017. The main aim of the internship is to
understand the functional activities of the organization, to match the theories learned with the
practical atmosphere and to give an experience in working inside an organization with
experienced staffs.

This internship report contains my activities that have contributed to achieve a number of my
stated goals. In the following chapter a description of the organization and the activities is given.
Finally I have given a conclusion on the internship experience according to my learning goals.

2. INDUSTRY PROFILE:

SIMTA is an innovative and inspiring entity and A group of integrated Textile


Engineering Enterprise promoted by Techno crates of professional Excellence and Dedication. It
was incorporated in the year 1990. SIMTA has a distinct mark in the field of textile industry
which is because of the innovative creation.

SIMTA cannot be matched with the others, when it comes to quality accessories for
textile machines. SIMTA is a vibrant Player in the textiles Industry due to high standards of
production and customer satisfaction. Presently SIMTA caters to 35% of the Indian market.

2.1PRODUCT RELIABILITY:

The testing for Quality assurance starts from sourcing of raw materials and continues to the final
process of production. Simta strongly believes gaining reputation in the market share Due to its
stringent quality control process.

2.2 PRODUCT ENGINEERING:

Product Development is a continuous process for Simta. The company goes along with the
global technological developments to manufacture textile accessories, to suit the latest machinery
with very high speeds.

2.3 EXPORTS:

A decade of valuable experience have equipped Simta to take on many export challenges in
Europe, South East Asia, Middle East, Africa & South America. The company has set a goal to
increase the exports by 3 folds in the forthcoming years.

2.4 QUALITY:

Quality is the aspect of primary importance at simta and considered with products in all

3.1. HISTORY OF THE COMPANY:

SIMTA Group has been established in the year 1991, to manufacture textiles machineries and
related accessories, by acquiring the best manufacturing practices and gained a good business
experience i e past 25 years. Hence SIMTA has diversified into the business by manufacturing
and supply of uPVC Windows & Door profiles in the brand name of SIMTA. SIMTA is one of
the largest manufacturers of uPVC windows and door profiles based in India since 2013. Keeping
in Mind the next Generation and the energy conservation needs best Cincinnati extrusion lines
from Austria installed four extrusion lines for manufacturing uPVC profiles with capacity of 4200
MT per annum. Quality is the principle of SIMTA that one can survive in the business only if it is
having a strategy of stringent quality control in the area of raw material procurement process.

3.2 OBJECTIVE OF THE ORGANIZATION:

• To be the industry leader in innovation with a focus on international exposure, meeting


international standards, planning and executing continuous action to support the clients
and expanding the net of collaborate and partners.

4. OPERATIONS

4.1OVERVIEW:

Production is the functional area responsible for turning inputs into finished outputs
through a series of production processes. The Production Manager is responsible for making sure
that raw materials are provided and made into finished goods effectively. He must make sure that
work is carried out smoothly, and must supervise procedures for making work more efficient and
more enjoyable. The Stores department will be responsible for stocking all the necessary tools,
spares, raw materials and equipment required to service the manufacturing process

4.3 PRODUCTION FUNCTIONS:

a) CHECKING PROCESS:

In this process after purchasing the raw materials they check the quality of
the materials. And then the raw materials are kept in stores. There are 10 racks in the
stores. The raw materials are separately arranged in the rack. The raw materials include
welding spare parts, plastic ropes, bush, hose clip, plain cover, disk, latchet, welding
washer, pipe, CWC drum, blower, bolt, nuts air slider and etc. After the order for raw
materials it is goes into production unit.

b) CUTTING:

Cutting is a separation of a physical object, into two or more portions, with simple
designs. And it creates a smooth, round surface matching the required diameter and
surface finish.

c) DRILLNG:

Drilling is also a type of cutting process that uses a drill bit to cut a hole of circular
cross section in a sold materials. And so that a round hole is created within a workplace of
a particular material.

d) WELDING:

Welding is the fabrication or sculptural process that joins materials i.e., metals by
causing fusion which is distinct from lower temperature metal joining techniques.

e) POWDER COATING:

The coating is typically applied electrostatically and is then cured under heat to
allow it to flow and form a "skin". The powder may be a thermoplastic or a thermoset
polymer. It is usually used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint.

f) ASSEMBLY:

An assembly line is a manufacturing process (most of the time called a progressive


assembly) in which parts (usually interchangeable parts) are added as the semi-finished
assembly moves from workstation to workstation where the parts are added in sequence
until the final assembly is produced.

g) QUALITY CHECK:

It is the process of checking the quality of the product that produced. If any
product is not in good quality it will be again re-produced. After checking of the quality
the product is goes into packing.

h) PACKING:

The packing differs for the different products. And also the packing will be made
based on the local areas and foreign countries.

i) TRANSPORT:

Finally the goods are transported to different regions based on the order by the
customers.

5.1FUNCTIONAL ACTIVITIES:

The Human Resource department includes activities such as identifying workforce


capability and capacity, Manpower planning and hiring, Employee engagement and
performance management, Training and leadership development, CSR activities etc.

HR department is constantly keeping a watch over the employees of the organization. In order to
improve the efficiency level of the employees they have go undergo regular trainings and
development programmers. All trainings and needs are carried out by this department.

5.2 Employment policy of the company ensures that:

• Child labour is not allowed and appropriate safeguards are in place for young workers.

• Working hours and other service conditions are designed for better health, environment
and social conditions of employees and are in accordance with law.

• Human resource development through further education and training is encouraged.

• Any kind of deposit will not be taken for employment. Our corporate policy is to always
prohibit improper or unethical payments to anyone (including government officials and
private citizens) anywhere in the world.

5.3 Recruitment and selection:

Simta recruits employees by the following process:

o Job fairs
o Consultancy
o Campus drive.

5.4 INTERVIEW PROCESS:

This process is carried out by top management. Candidates proving


themselves successful through tests are interviewed through following process

HR TELEPHONIC SCREENING:

They conduct HR telephonic screening to find out the level of interest


of the candidate and to know the details about the candidate like how strong they work ,what is
the current project they working for and what is the reason for they left their existing company.

TECHNICAL TELEPHONIC SCREENING:

In this process they find out the qualities of the candidate like problem
solving level and system knowledge etc.

ONSITE INTERVIEW:

In this process the company bring their candidate into their location and conduct
interview. It helps the company to evaluate the candidate that how they are fit to the company
through behavioral questions.

5.5 HOURS OF WORK:
The working hour of company is 9 am to 5 pm with 15 minutes of tea break
and 40 minutes of lunch break of 6 working days.

5.6 HOLIDAYS:

 Casual leave for employees is 12 days per year


 Public days includes all festivals and national holidays
 Maternity leave is for 6 months

5.7 EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT:

• SIMTA recognize the involvement of employee effectively and rewards them.

• It does not encourage any kind of deposit for promotions.

• They conduct self-discipline class twice a week for employees

• The company arrange tour for employees twice a year.

Grievances:

The company concentrated more on grievances of the employee. And it will resolved by
the organization

5.8 CSR ACTIVITY:

The company cleans the cities by performing clean-up volunteer activity of removing the
polythene and plastic wastes in the city.

In order to maintain great relationships with vendors , making sure that everyone
gets paid on time is a vital role. The role of the accounting department includes keeping an eye
on opportunities to save money, for example, determining if there are discounts or incentives
available for paying certain vendors more quickly. inancial controls

B)Accounts Receivable and Revenue Tracking (money in)

Another critical duty of the accounting department is to account for and track
receivables, including outstanding invoices and any required collection actions. Accounts
receivable is responsible for creating and tracking invoices

C)Payroll

Payroll is a critical function of the accounting department and includes


making sure all employees are paid accurately and timely. In addition, proper tax is assessed and
tax payments are on time with state and federal government agencies.

D)Reporting and Financial Statements

The primary reason you collect data properly in your accounting software is
to prepare financial reports that can be used for budgeting, forecasting and other decision making
processes.
In addition, these and other reports are needed for communication to
investors, banks and other professionals that play a role in the growth of your business.

E)Financial Controls

Financial controls include reconciliations, dividing the responsibilities and following the GAAP
standards of accounting principles, all of which are implemented with view toward compliance,
fraud and theft prevention. The role of the Controller is to ensure procedures are set up properly
to manage that process without errors.

6.2 FINANCIAL STATUS:

Authorised capital: 120 lacs

Secured loan: 3.15 cr from AXIS bank

6.3 SOURCE OF REVENUE:

Export to the various countries is the major source of revenue for simta machinery ltd. And also
the company has set a goal to increase the exports by 3 folds in the forthcoming years.

6.4 EXPENSES:

The main expenses in simta ltd is covered in production department.

Other expenses include:

• Salaries, wages

• Raw materials

• Electricity

• Taxes

• Depreciation

• Interest etc

6.5 ROLE OF FINANCE MANAGER:

• It is the role of the finance manager to prepare product wise sales forecast for every
month. Preparing fund flow statement.

• Preparing stock statement.

• Responsible for planning, organizing, evaluating & controlling the operations of financial
and accounting departments.

• He manages the payments and receivables

• He prepares the budget for all department

• He frames the credit policy

• He maintains the liquidity position of the company

Marketing is a widely used term to describe the communication between the company and
consumer audience that aims to increase the value of the company. The textile industry pays a
significant role in determining the strength of the economy. Textile machinery refers to the wide
range of equipment used in different stages o manufacturing.

compared to its prices. The products include spindle taps, clearer rollers, bobbin
transport, industrial fabrics, foundation fabrics, sheet metal and u pvc profile.

2. Price:
Some of the products are priced according to its different and unique
features and quality. Even though the price of the product is costly the customers
prefer to buy those products because of the quality of the product. And also simta
provide some discounts and offer for regular customers and wholesale purchase.

3. Place:
Simta has spread its presence in both domestic and international with equal success. The
company is a major supplier of textile machinery products to textile industries in countries like
china, japan, Europe, south east Asia, middle east, Africa, and south America.

4. Promotion
Simta products reach its customers only through social media like:

Google plus.
It has its own website that acts as its agents by updating important news and
events at regular intervals. By using this social media they share their events,
photos, videos etc.

Information systems plays a major role in simta ltd to co-ordinate the activities in the industry.
Information system connect the manufacturing industry their customers, suppliers and service
providers. Information system helps to maintain the procedures in the manufacturing industry.

8.2 TPS:
Transactional processing system are used to collect, store, modifies and retrieves data transactions
of manufacturing industry.

8.3 MATERIAL RESOURCE PLANNING:

This system is used to centralize, integrate, and process information for decision making in
scheduling, design engineering, inventory management and cost control in manufacturing.

8.4 ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING SYSTEM:


These system consist of functions such as accounting, customer order fulfilment, manufacturing,
materials management, human resources and financial systems and offer close relationship
among these functions.
